Wheel Advice

yes, its finally time, its time to go wheel shopping, when it comes to regular fd stuff, I can say Im pretty knowledgeable, but when it comes to wheel and tire stuff, forget it. I want to know what the widest wheel brand, size, offset, whatever. I want someting that looks deep and stylish, basically for performance but style, my budget will be around 2k. Tell me what you guys suggest, Id love to run 285 35 r17 in the back, and I don't know what in the front.

What will the car be used for primarily? Do you plan to drag, autocross, or what. You plan on spending 2k for wheels and tires or just the wheels?

They don't make a 285/35 17. Many of us wish they did.

Spend some time looking through the suspension archives, your question is way too vague.

Best bang for the buck? CCW P4 3-piece wheels. You specify all the specs, i.e., diameter, width, offset, finish, color, and they will make them for you. $1860 for a set of 4. These wheels are comparably light as well.

Per John Purner, the head guy @ CCW, for the FD, he recommends 17x9.5, 255/40 up front, and 17x10 275/40, out back for a mild street setup.

I had 18x8 fronts and 18x9 rear's and I regret it. I would go the same size again but I'll never buy 18's again. Ok now that was said.

Stick with the 17's but i suggest the lightest rim you can afford, you will feel a powerloss if the wheels weighs a lot more. Just try and get it the lightest you can afford in your budget.
