Whats a good decent brake kit to get for my new single turbo FD??
As above i'm just finished my single turbo FD.I got a good few mods done to it(t78,porting,1600ccinj,fpr,greddy fmic,straight through exhaust system) and feel I need a good brake system for it now thats within reasonable pricing coz of the money I spent on the rebuild and T78 conversion.Any one point me in the right direction???Was thinking the brembo brake kit from RX7store but not sure????Please help.

Will you be using it extensively for tracking purposes or is it just a street/semi-track car? Either way, $3,000 for a brake kit is A LOT of money. Racing brake seems to be a popular choice here for those who track their car. Stoptech and Willwood are both good cheaper alternatives.
Endless and Greddy also make great kits but they are just as expensive as the Brembo kit.

I will be using it as a street/semi track car and I thought the same,that 3k was a bit heavy for a brake kit.Was looking for something that is reliable,that will stop me fairly quickly but that doesn't rape me in price.The endless and greddy are good kits but are a bit pricey.Willwood i've heard of through the site but don't know much about them.Anyone have a decent brake kit they recommend???

Adding to Mahjik's info, a few other options include:
- RacingBrake 4 wheel BBK
- Stoptech front BBK
- Pettit front BBK (I think someone is selling a used setup now)
There are probably others but these are well supported in the US and easy to get replacement parts and pads for.
AutoRND also has a few other options.

That looks like a good system.Don't think I need to change the calllipers,just a set of slotted rotors and uprated discs with braided lines.Watched an re amemiya touge superg rx7 (the blue one) with 375hp smoke a 600hp gtr skyline.It beat everythin it came up against and the car didn't have a big brake kit.He had a slotted set of discs and bigger pads all round but standard callipers.I thought that was amazing.Ken amemiya said in an interview afterwards that the Fd brake system is already quite good but just needed some minor changes.Prob head that direction.Thanks man.

You're only going to get but so much benefit out of same-size rotors, two-piece or otherwise. Mandeville used to do a kit with 13" colemans that modified your stock caliper.
StopTech is a good choice economically because they are among the few designed to work with your stock MC and rear brakes, so you don't need to change anything else, but can be used with other upgrades too.

Would I be right in saying i'll have enough with just the rotors,ss lines and big pads?Stoptech is coming to my att alot in this post.They must be a decent brake kit???

IMO, if you are asking this question, then rotors/pads/lines/fluid is going to be more than enough for you for a while. When you get to the point that you need a big brake kit, you won't be asking people here for advice on what to do... You'll already have the information yourself to make your own decision.

When you get to the point that you need a big brake kit, you won't be asking people here for advice on what to do... You'll already have the information yourself to make your own decision.

Reason for asking is coz I don't know whether i need a big brake kit or not.Never driven a single turbo fd and I don't have it back yet to judge.From what i've heard,twins and single is like chalk and cheese!!I know stock brake kit aint gonna cut it so was just fishing bout to see what you guys run coz it's fairly dense over here for fds and I always get good advice when I ask for it on this site!!!So eventually you're saying i'm gonna have to get a big brake kit?

Creating some ducting to bring the air into the veins of the brake rotors would take care of a lot of the cooling.
3. Lastly is BBK's. IMO, you should look into 1 & 2 first before going to a BBK. Unless you have quite a bit of track experience already, you shouldn't be pushing the car hard enough yet anyway to warrant a BBK. So get some seat time first.
Finally, once again, tires stop the car. If you want to stop quicker, get stickier tires. All the brakes do is bring the car to the braking threshold (i.e. locking the tires up under braking).

Now, this was on a M3 forum about the E46 M3 but the similar principles apply for every car. Larger calipers deal with heat dissipation, they don't necessarily stop your car better/faster. Simply adding a large single turbo doesn't automatically mean you need bigger brakes.

good point but that fd had 99spec 17" wheel brakes and 4channel abs are cars have smaller brakes 16" wheel type and 3channel abs usdm/jdm 98+ fd's are night and day which is why i wish i could just import a spiritR type A and stop spending all the cash to make one!!!

if i were in your situation get some new rotors, pads, ss lines and head over to sr motorsports for the rear brake kit! now you have the stopping power of a viper (4 pistons front & rear)
