I would prefer spring/shock combo. Anyone have any ideas on what might work. Do you think im going to need to roll my front fenders? Going on a FD

 

FC or FD?

Either way, you will most likely need coilovers, especially on an FC. Coilovers will be a must. FD maybe. Roll and pulling fenders completely depends on your tire size unless you're going sunken battleship enough to make the wheel rim hit the fender.

even if you run a 225 tire you will probably need to roll your fender lips.

you will want a super stiff suspension and if you want to lower it a lot for a flush look or better aerodynamics then of course you need full fledged coilovers like stance, tein, jic, ohlins, and so on.

the usual choice for 10" wide wheel on an FD is around a +50 offset so your wheels will be an INCH farther out than the proven setup that fits a 285 wide tire under stock fenders, yikes, you ready to roll or what?

 

^ IIRC from what I've read a 285/30/18 on an 18x10 +50 offset wheel is a real stretch to get it to fit, it limits lowering, requires coilovers, tubular suspension components (toe links?) and fender rolling, and even then it'll rub.

It sounds like you need a widebody or to get different wheels.

Ideally you'd opt for coilovers. Going with fitments which may not be ideal, you'll want that added adjustability.

 

Mahjik is one of the more knowledgeable people about this. No need for everyone to chime in that they agree with him.

Really stiff springs and other questionable approaches really aren't worth the trade off of running a rim that basically doesn't fit the car. Its your money and time though....
