What springs and struts to replace on 3rd gen?

I am posting this for a friend. He has a r-1 like mine and wants to upgrade his struts and springs. I am using the Koni yellows and Eibach pro kit but I did not want to tell him what to get as I have only tried the stock set up and my current set up. He does want the car to sit a little lower but not slammed! Anyone have experence with differant set ups? Whats the best for the price?

I'd go Bilstein HD for a non-manually adjustable shock and HR's, or Koni and HR's for adjustability.

Rishie

You could retain the factory springs and run the Koni Yellows which will allow you to lower the vehicle without cutting the springs. There are three locations for the perch to be placed on the shock body.

Well if he hardly drives the car, then new stock replacement Showa R1 shocks with H&R springs will work fine. That's what I have, and I road race the car frequently... The Bilstein HDs would be an excellent choice for serious road work--they will be my next set of shocks

Still liking your Comps, Sk8? How have they been on the road with road tires (I forgot which set of rubbers you're running)?

Rishie tells me SSR Comps will be available in 9.5 x 18, 50-mm offsets, which would be perfect for running all the way around with 265/35-18 tires!

Sleepr1, Still loveing them!!! I went with Toyo ti-s tires. (got a good deal from max cooper). 265/40 and 245/40. A little rub on hard turns on the fender liner but other than that, no probs. I could raise the front one perch up but I really like were the car sits now.
