Depends on what you do with your car? Drag race, open track/road racing, street driving, lowered?

You really aren't going to find a good compromise. Linear springs are going to kill your butt on rough streets; progressive springs aren't going to give you great track performance.

What is your budget?

If you are making a car that is going to see the street more than the track, you might check out progressive springs. They add better handling than the stock springs but still have some road confort. If you don't mind a seriously rough ride, get some linear springs.

If you have the budget, go for a full coilover setup.
