Is this for show or race? We can offer you a great deal on an Endless Racing 6 Brake kit. Lighter Caliper than the Brembo, two piece floating or fixed disc of your choice.

This is the 6Pot system. I'm not sure if you're familiar with the Endless Brand but is widely used in professional racing circuit in Japan. I can provide you with more technical info as you need it. It's kinda late right now where i'm at.

These will cost more than the Brembos. You can speak with my the guy who owns the silver FD if you want. he's used Brembo, Alcon, and the Endless brakes. I too have Endless brakes on my FC and RX8. My wife has them on her scion and miata.

Talk to you soon,

Rishie

Here's my RX8 Endless Brakes: This is just a Caliper kit, so I retained my factory size rotor and all. RX8 rotors are huge so it was more economical this way.

Define, if you will, what is meant by "floating" disc. Do you make them where the calipers float also?

And what are the associated benefits for having a floating versus non-floating
A) rotor
B) caliper

as in real-world proven tested benefits. In addition to the theoretical benefits.

I remember when they were wind-tunnel testing the first gen. Volkswagen Rabbit. The large crack between the rear hatch and the body where it met the side of the car's body was deemed to be an aerodynamic liability. Until they actually covered it up in the wind tunnel, and the drag went up. So the big gap stayed in the production cars.

Unless you track your car, there is very little if any benefit (only a negative effect on your wallet):

I didn't find the word "floating" on that web page.

What do YOU know about floating versus fixed is what I wanted to know. And the costs/benefits that accrue therefrom.

Floating and sliding calipers are pretty much the same thing. They are interchanged these days.

Ok so a floating disc rotor is only an advantage to someone who tracks their vehicle often or when tracked is put to the limits. Late braker etc.... To a non track guy the only real advantage would be

1. Appearance, looks cool
2. Lighter rotor due to the aluminum bell housing
3. Replacement of only the Disc, rather than the whole shbang
4. The ability to grow into the brake system as your skills improve

For a hardcore track guy, i'm sure you already know the benefits so I won't go there unless need be. Heat Expansion, etc...

Floating rotors refers to the ability of the rotors to expand when hot b/c they are pieces put together. Direction of the venting will help. I have some Alcon floating calipers on my S4. Since it's a heavy pig it helps fight brake fade in if I'm hard on the brakes in successive turns. You can't see where the rotor parts are "loosely" connected (floating parts) so there's no bling factor.

StopTechs, at $1700-ish and nothing else to buy (like MC or matching rears) are an excellent choice. They look pretty good too:
