Yellow on Red actually looks quite nice IMO. Red has been done to death, but its nice. Black is always nice. Silver I can't get into on any color car, and mine is silver!

Hmmm, I can't get into that yellow. I always liked Silver but not a polished look myself.

BTW, I have seen gold (on a big brake kit) and it looks pretty good on a VR FD.

I agree with Pete. Yellow!
BTW that was Porsches choice on some of their GT series cars and where I got the idea to do mine in yellow...back in the day

Yellow on red reminds me of McDonalds. There is a red Civic with yellow ricer accents near my office. I call it the McCivic.

Red has been done to death because it looks great. Red Calipers with Silver Mazda logo. Can't go wrong!

Crispy, I think your car is one of the best modded 7s around, but I can't stand the yellow calipers on a red FD.....

I think either red or black calipers with a silver Mazda logo look the best.

Actually, the picture is of Crispy's old setup... now he has boring old black AP's :-)

My car is silver, and you may scoff, but if i could have any color calipers, it would be the old powder blue that Mazda painted it's racecars in the 80's. In reality, they will be black...

it also reminds me of the same thing that's why I plan on painting mine red instead of yellow or any other color. imo, red calipers look classy. I've seen only red brembos on 996 and 911 turbos regardless of the color on the car. The porsche can be yellow or green and yet it will still sport red calipers. I say red all the way!

btw what is good caliper paint?

rynberg,
Times change, people change, tastes change. At the time I think they looked great (still do ina retro kinda way)...but as Pete noted all I have now are these dull black calipers OBTW I guess you wouldn't like the bullet hole stickers either?

RX-187, I beleive it was the earlier 993's that used the yellow Brembos. I saw the yellows on both silver and red 993's...FWIW

And for revsteve, whatever color you paint thye calipers don't paint the letters silver (blech)....polish them. Take a bench file and file them down and sand to a smooth and tape them before painting. Use an "exacto" knife to cut the tape. Paint and peel off the tape them polich the letters to a high shine. 10 times better than painted silver....IMO

The top of the line Porsche calipers for the ceramic brakes on the Carrera GT and the better Turbo models are all yellow regardless of the color of the car. The red ones go on the Boxters.

I appreciate all the input.

I think if I had those nice bling'd out BBS wheels, red would be cool b/c it is broken up by the silver.

However, since I just have the stockers, I think yellow would look the best.

I have future plans to powdercoat a 2nd set of stockers white. For that eventuality, red would look the best.

Edited for stupidity:

Good caliper paint is G2 paint kit or Foliatec Paint kit. Both run b/t 40-50 w/ a 6 color selection.

Re-edit:

**** McDonalds for ruining yellow calipers. A McRix sounds too much like an actual sandwich. I hope they lose another 250 million THIS year!

Search for my pics, they're all over this forum. I have a VR FD with black calipers and black rims.

Okay wtf that was weird. I don't know why I posted as GazXL but I swear THIS is the REAL me.

But yeah, search the forums and you'll find big pics of my calipers. I didn't wanna paint it red because it'll be too flashy behind the black rims, so yellow would've been even more noticable.

personally i have black, it looks subtle and doesn't stand out like the yellow. plus the black wont show dust buildup as bad as the lighter colors.

Perhaps, but what color is the AP logo? You've still got a little yellow in there.

I think polish with red lettering would look nice or red or gold calipers with polish letters
