Volk CE28N Size Suggestions?

Well the time has come for me to get some new tires and I figure it's time for rims as well. There's no way I'm covering 16's again!!

Anyway, after painstaking consideration of whether to go with 17's or 18's I've decided to go with 18's and if I don't like them on the 7 I can always put them on my 8.

So then the question I have is can I go with Volk CE 28N's-18x9 in front and 18x10 in rear and not have any clearance/rubbing issues. I really don't even want to worry about being close. Offsets??
I have GAB shocks and unknown springs-lowered about an inch by previous owner. I plan to go with a different suspension later. It's got stock breaks.
Also, if I decide to put them (18x9 & 18x10) on my 8 there shouldn't be any fitment issues right??

Any input would be great..thanks.

This is a really good question, but i think you should be allright. My car is lowered an inch as well, and i'm also currently looking at 18x9 and 18x10 wheels. Just a question though...what size tires are you looking at?

Good choice. CE28N doesn't have friendly offsets in 18x9/10. You can get 18x9.5(+47mm) with 265/35 all around or if you're willing to roll the rear fenders an 18x10.5(+45mm) will work with 285/30. I believe they have an 18x8.5 for the front if you want staggered.

I was leaning toward 255/40 or 265/35. Not sure though. With the roads I have to travel on I would prefer 40's.

Thanks for the input. I definitely don't want to roll the fenders. Would 255/40's all around work or would the 40's be too high with 9.5 all 'round?? Wouldn't mind being able to rotate them.

I run 18x9.5" on all four corners with 265/35's. Rears are rolled but don't need to be, fronts are not rolled and the tires clear but it's really damn close. Offset is 45. So with a 47 offset and 255's should work as that size tire is a bit shorter than the 265's. I could easily go with 285's in the rear with the rolled fenders.

One problem I see however is that you'll need to make sure you're using 2.5" OD springs or coil-overs with the same size spring...stock-sized springs (diameter) won't allow for the proper clearance.

So running 18x9.5's all around on 265/35's or 255/40's won't fly if you're already about an inch lower than stock?

Could anyone else also chime in please??

I just recieved my wheels from Japan this week.

Specs:

Front: 18x8.5 +40mm Tires: 235/40/18 Rubs plastic piece when turning hard. I suggest getting a 35 series. Possibly 245/35/18, which is what eastondle recommended me.

Rear: 18x9.5 +34mm Tires: 275/35/18 Fenders not rolled. Does rub fender when hitting bumps. Need to raise car 1/2-1 inch more. However, 265/35/18 might help.

How did you determine what offset to get and did you special order that particular offset?

for these particular wheels , they only come in certain sizes. For the FD they have +34 9.5 in the rears and +40mm 8.5 in the front. Interested in buying my wheels? I just got them and I think I might go with 17's instead. I waited 4 months for these. Tires and wheels are not even a week old.

Those rims on my VR would look nice!!! How much are you asking?

What suspension setup are you running right now? I'm concerned about fitment. Would coilovers solve the rubbing issue?

I ran the numbers thru the Question Eliminator 3000 and it says the rears won't fit with a 34mm offset. But I really like the way the rims fill the width of the wheelwell.

I think raising the car higher would solve the rubbing issue OR getting the rear fenders rolled.

+34 is the recommended size for FD by Volk.

I'll see how long i have to wait for 17's before I decide to sell these. I'll let you know.

Ya but Japanese books always recommend offsets that rub over here. I think Japan is accustomed to running agressive offsets with slightly thinner tires.

That's the only shitty thing about that finish is that it is only recommended in one size.

What I would do is try to mix and match offsets and widths between different makes they have fitments for. That might be a way.

I can do a GB on a certain number of sets and we can get them exactly how we want.

Rishie, I'm interested in an aggressive looking CE28N setup with 18x9.5 all around or 8.5 front and 9.5 rear but I'm getting the impression I'll have rubbing issues even with 2.5" springs/coilovers???

So my question is with wheel sizes indicated above and tires at 255 or 265/35 in front and 275/35 in rear am going to have to worry about rubbing at all. I don't want to roll fenders and really don't want to chance rubbing and I don't want to raise the car much. Not into monster truck clearance.

Do work meisters s2s come in more friendly offsets for their 18's? I love these rims!!!

Thanks for your help.

I need wheels that bow inward rishie. I might ditch my time attacks just because they dont bow inward enough. And 18's might be too big for me.

Hey Senna,

the S2R has crazy great offsets for the FD. That won't be a problem. We can pick our offset in 1mm increments. i can get you 18x10's on all four corners if you really want, and still give it the staggered lip look.

Ken,

I'm not sure but have you seen the Time attack wheels for the 350Z in 18's? i haven't checked to see if they make them or what they recommend. but that would be the only way to pull it off on that wheel. Because it's a one piece wheel they will only make that design in lower offsets.

It's all about your Burnout fenders front and rear. Then I think yuo can find a CE28N that will be exactly what you want. not sure about Time Attack version, but I belive they must have something. Worst case you'll have to do the 19" setup with fenders front and rear to get the look you want in that wheel.

email me a picture of what is enough bow for you so I can brainstorm and give you some possible options.

Rishie
