used ohlins q's
i bought some used ohlins, wondering if ya'll had ever seen them? tell me what you think.
i bought them off ebay and was under the impression they were coilovers but they werent. i am trying to figure out if they have any level of adjustability, and also, do those look like stock fc springs? thanks for any help.

hmmm, well I don't work on a lot of there street car stuff but i would say they look like a simple single adj. at least it looks like and adj. cable...sorry torn off adj. cable on the one probably an open adj. meaning it adjusts both comp and rebound at the same time....from the looks of them i would have them dyno'd cuz theyre probably trashed.

They look to be mono tube absorbers (NICE!). I'm sure they were very nice dampers at one point, but there appears to be oil seepage (maybe just road grime?). Find out if Ohlins will rebuild or at least test them, then get some Ground Control coilovers to replace those stock springs for them if there still good or if you get them rebuilt (if they can be rebuilt).

I run the same shocks in my FC. Using RS*R springs though.
The shocks are in the top level of off the shelf kit available for the FC in Japan. To get better would probably mean Aragosta (actual coilovers), and maybe one or two other brands.
They're 20 position adjustable for rebound and damping in one. The rears are height adjustable through 5 steps. Remove the springs and the aluminium perch can be moved up or down (mine are at the lowest for good balance).
The fronts are not height adjustable so a coilover conversion, or adjustable perches are the way to go.
Take the busted adjuster off the rear shocks and they can be set using a flat head screwdriver.
To buy new in Japan would cost you around Y128000 which is about US$1100. Without springs.
If you can get them rebuilt (if they need it, looks like mostly road grime to me), you've got yourself some awesome shocks. Just get some good springs to suit, and maybe some adjustable front perches (if you need to), and you're set.

not sure why racerexteme7 thinks monotubes are(NICE) but anyways. if you look at the top of the body where the shaft comes out and its not stamped or welded then chances are theyre rebuildable in which case if you want them seviced you can contact Motorsports spares Inc. and they will do whatever you want for a price. or PM me and I can probably rebuild them however i cannot dyno them cuz i do not have the brackets to do struts.
