Totally confused now on 17X9F and 17X10R offsets
I've been reviewing several threads now and I am getting ready to get quotes on a set of Gram Lights 57 Pros in staggered fitment. 17X9F and 17X10R for my FD
I am running stock brakes and suspension and I don't know what offsets to get now
Based on this thread I think it's Fronts +40 and Rears +38.
https://www.rx7club.com/showthread.p...hlight=offsets
I don't know what size to get to prevent rubbing. There is also discussion about keeping 9s all round to keep the handling neutral. Does anyone have suggestions? I don't wish to roll my fenders and the car is being built for about 350 HP max. Thanks

EL7,
I'm not familiar with offsets offered for the wheels you're looking at but I would get something closer to (or greater than) 44mm offset for the front with a 9" wheel.

Does anyone have a set of these in 17? I know most guys have 18s but I want a lil more sidewall. Really crappy roads around here...
Post pics if you can. Let me know if you had to roll the fenders or not. Thanks.

I don't think a 10" +38 is going to work in the rear. I have 10" +42's, and they look like just about the outer limit... they stick out as far as the outer body panel... only the arch of suspension movement keeps them from hitting the lip.
A 9" +40 up front might *fit* but its at the ragged edge of livable. You'll NEED rolled fender lips... mine are 9" +42's, and I have rolled lips... and its tight.
"Dish" is the least of your worries. Get wheels that fit first.

I've been looking at some quotes and I think I will go with 17X8s up front and 17X9 in the rear. Am I still looking at +40F and +38R to get the right fit? Is Rishie still on the boards? Maybe he can help.

Posts above tell you how far you can go with the offsets.

Heh, heh...spoolin93r1 is the car that got me turned onto these wheels in the first place
Dave, I must be retarded because I don't see the concrete post that tells me the right offsets. I don't want to roll the fenders. School me cuz I'm dumb.

EL7... not looking to offend you... Just talking offsets here.
If you decide to go with 17x8 and 17x9 (I've had these for a long time) then you can get 32mm offset Front (or greater) and 38mm for the rear. (I can send you pics if you get me your email)
If you do the 17x9 and 17x10 then 44mm or more for the front and (as per PHahn and Speedking) 43mm or more for the rear.

EL7, do you doubt our collective wisdom?
9 wide x 17 with 40-mm offset will work up front. Tire sizes that work well up front are 245/40-17 or 255/40-17--largely dependent on the tire brand.
10 x 17 with 38 offset in back is ok with 265/40-17 or 275/40-17--again largely dependent on the tire brand.
The high ride height from the stock suspension will prevent any rubbing. You'll need to worry if you get RB springs (they're too soft). Get H&Rs, and you'll be fine (they're stiffer, but progressively rated).
Go to the 3rd Gen Rx7s for sale section of this forum. Look for my car for sale thread. You'll see pics of my car with 9 x 17, 45-mm offset SSR Integral A2s all around with 255/40-17 Pirellis. I have no rubbing with H&R springs, R1 Showa shocks, Eibach sway bars fr/rr.
5 mm more outboard with the 57Pros shouldn't be a huge clearance difference with stock suspension.
