tires.com wheels worth buying?
my boy can hook it up nasty at tires.com or discounttires or what ever, im talkin cost-10% so im trying to find the best performance rim possible.
I want a 17x8 or 8.5 Front and a 17x9 or 9.5 Rear. offsets around 25-40mm
I've narrowed it down to these rims that tires.com sells
5zigen FN01r-C (i wish they carried forged) about 17lbs
5zigen rx-6 - cant possibly find the weight of this rim for the love of everything that is holy
Mb motorsport competition - about 18lbs or so i think.. i understand A-tech=mb motorsport but i cant find weights to thier rims for the life of me.
Racing sparco NT-R i understand they are light around 17lbs for a 17X8
which rims would you guys go with and why?
if you want to check out the site tires.com and give me a good performance rim to check out

Yes G-Games is made by RAYS. It'll be a little heavier than the other wheels you have chosen.
Best bang for the buck is the FN01R-C. My buddy's shop is having some kind of a special on 5zigen wheels, they also carry forged ones. PM me for their email address.

what rims would you consider if you were to be very competitive?
I just found out i can basicly special order any rim i want, i'm no longer limited to the rims at tires.com

If you aren't going to be competitive, then it really doesn't matter what wheel/weight you get.

how oftin do you hear of peoples rims breaking at competitive events?
i dont see how CCW is a better rim. They are expensive, not very light for the price and they dont seem to make anything below 18" which is too big for performance at a competitve level.
Custom rims are cool but they arnt really custom.. oh you want 18x10 35 offset sure we have 100 in the back custom just for you... right

BTW, the above comments were made in regards to CCW's "Classic" wheel, which is also what Mahjik was referring to. They do make several non-custom wheels now as well, that ARE off-the-shelf type items.

CCW wheels are FORGED, not CAST. When a cast wheel is very light, it is wise to question how much abuse it can take. An 18x10 wheel weighing 20 lbs for less than $500/wheel is very light for the size/price. 18" is NOT too big for performance, given how many FDs run 285/30s all around....
CCW is not McDonald's....I'm sure they keep a few size/offset combos in "stock" for C5s and a few other cars but they don't keep a huge inventory. In any case, you act as if them having a 100 sitting around in your exact size/offset is a BAD thing.... Custom means you will get exactly what you want -- non-custom means you take what they have. Good luck, almost no one makes large wheels that fit FDs well off-the-shelf.

I think thier rims look really nice and they are strong if forged but buying a set of rims that are worth more than your car doesnt seem feasible to the none sponserd competitive FC driver. You guys seem to own FDs so i'm sure your budget is more than the average FC owner.
So on a budget of around 1500 what's the best rim(s) to use competitvely?

Can't go wrong with CCW either. Great product and great service.

They're in your price range if you can get the discounts you claim. Less than 16 lbs for 17x9.5
Truth be told, unless you have a bbk and need bigger, stock rims are hard to beat for light track duty. Get some bling wheels for around town, no worries about weight, and put on your featherlight stockers for track days.

It looks like he has a TII, not an FD. Stock TII rims are 16x7 and are 25 lbs, IIRC.
