You must be thinking of Kumho SPTs. I have a pair of the regular SPTs on my daily driver. They're fine for regular street use in summer, nothing remarkable.

Honestly, I'd say 99% of FD owners 3 years ago would have never used them. Now, maybe it's 90%. Most of us look at our cars as Porsches or Ferraris. I still maintain you'll find much more information on the honda forum, a product like that is aimed more at the high school demographic.

My opinion, nothing personal

From the Kumho site: "Ecsta SPT Colored Smoke tires are for drifting and competition use only, and are not intended for public road use."

They probably won't handle the same as normal SPT's and are more expensive. There'd be no point to putting them on the front, so you could end up with some interesting handling characteristics.

My advice would be that if you want some, get a set, but get something else to drive on and put those on when you want to do a burnout or drift.

The traction level is average for an economy performance tire. The down side to the tire is that while your spinning your tires to get them to start smoking your also throwing melted colored rubber chunks all over your rear quarter panels. This is also why we only recommend them for track use and track cars.
