Tires

Hello all. I am looking in to buying a new set of tires for my 88gxl. I currently have 205/50/16 in the front and 205/55/16 in the rear. I bought the car like that, so Im not to sure why there's 55's in the back and 50's in the front. I know that this number is the aspect ratio, but does it improve performance? I want to get wider tires, but im not too sure how wide I can go. The price is about the same for 205 vs. 235's. I have 16" , oldschool momo rims. Any feedback would be greatly appreciated---thanks to all-- Ren

I'm not sure about fitment on your car but you can see how wide of a tire you can fit on the rims you have on the tire rack. Just click on the specs. It will also list the revs per mile, which is a measure of the tire's diameter. Try to match it up to what your car is stock if you go wider. There is more info on my site.

Find out from the label in the door jam what was stock for your car. If you want to change tire size, use the tire size calculator at the link below. You'll still have to make sure that there is no interference with the fender or suspension if you go larger in size.
