Those look good. My rims look like crap I've been looking for a solution. What did you do to accomplish that? (products, process, etc.)

I don't have any before pics, but mine were scratched up pretty good. I hit the curves alot. all you need to do is get a rough and fine file, some fine sand paper and 00 grade steel whool. take the rough file to the RIM of the wheel where you have curb scratches. Once you have that filed down use the fine sand paper then the steel wool. if you have no scratches just use steel whool on the entire wheel. Then I dust the wheel off and use alcohol or windex to clean the weel. I used a brush to get all the dust off.

then you need to make a decision how your going to paint. You can either mask the wheel which is a pain in the *** or you can clean the paint off the wheel after with paint remover or mineral spirits. I chose the later of the two.

I got Dupli Color Wheel paint, it was the charcool metalic color (gunmetal look). shake the can well and hold it about 1 foot from the wheel and lightly spray. I do this until its even. Then I went to the next wheel and did the same thing. It took less than 1 can for the entire 4 wheels. I put 3 coats of the paint on it. in 1 hour I used the Dupli Color clear coat. I did the same thing, put 3 coats on it. Be careful not to make it run. I had NO problems at all. I chose to leave the wheels on the car. I masked the body of the car so no overspray, and I masked under the wheels (the rotor/brakes).

In the end it looks perfect, you cant even tell they were painted. Had I the equipment and time I would have taken the wheels off, but in the end it was alot faster and looks just as good.

Wow those are really nice. You should make a follow up post in a couple months and let us know how they are against the elements. I guess as long as you prep properly they should be as sturdy as powdercoating right?

I bought it a Kragen, but all the auto stores carry it. 1 can of paint and 1 can of clear coat is all you need.

Its like night and day. the pictures do NOT do justice, they look like new wheels now.

Red...

The clear coat is really strong, plus the paint was designed for wheels. I think of it like your car, its painted right? The same elements hit your car as it does with the wheels.

Prep is the key.

Thats true. It is probably just more prone to getting hit with rocks though. And the heat and brake dust. But if thats what it is designed for then it should be cool. Again... Nice job.

Since it is painted, would it scratch easily when putting the tires back on?

The clear coat does dry pretty hard. If you look at your stock wheels they still have the factory clear coat on it. I would be extra careful when taking the wheels off. Someone could potentially scratch them with the tire gun, when removing your wheels. Its really easy to touch up, so if they get scratched all I need to do is sand that part back down with steel wool and repaint. 5 mintues.

Those look good. But you could've gotten them powdercoated for anout $60/wheel which would have made the finish much more durable.

Chances are there is a powdercoater in (or around) your town.

Looks cool though.

I know about powercoating, but again thats 240 bucks and I live in bay area, so its likely more than that. I paid 10 bucks and about 1 hour 20 minutes and they look great.
