TireRack vs RX7.com shocks/springs
All,
I've been looking to get new springs/shocks for my FD. I've been examining the kit provided from tirerack (http://www.tirerack.com/suspension/...Clar=&brand=all), which is a set of Koni's and Eibach's, lowers it ~1" front and rear, and costs about 900 altogether. The one from Rx7.com (http://www.rx7.com/store/rx7/fdsuspension.html) comprises of Tokico's and Suspension Specialties springs, which lowers it by .8 and 1.4 front and rear.
Question is, has someone tried both or the ones from RX7.com? I heard from folks that have tried the tirerack setup and have been happy with it.
Thanks!

Man, that price is pretty near what a set of halfway decent coilovers would cost. IMHO, the adjustability makes it worth the extra money.
I think Rishie with AutoRnD is having a sale on Stance Coilovers, and from what I've heard, they're pretty nice.

I think the Tokico's maybe adjustable... if I remember right. Yeah, I know about the price, but I finally convinced the wife to let me get it, so asking for more will probably be tougher

It is my "weekend" car I don't track it, nor do I race it. I don't "baby" it, by any means, but it's my fun-relieve-stress car hehe

Honestly, for your purposes you'd probably be happy with either. The Koni/Eibach combo is probably the most common of all used on FD's, but that doesn't mean the other is not just as good. Koni's DO allow some ride hight adjustment, and adapt well to adjustable coilover conversions (like GC's) if you eventually want to go that route.

The Koni's are going to be a little more rough than the Tokico's. However, they are better suited for the higher spring rates. Unless you plan on tracking the car, I would suggest Tokico's. As for the springs, I don't have any experience with Suspension Specialties springs. I have used Eibach's before and really liked them a lot. They were very confortable on the street. I would suggest getting Tokico and Eibach. If you want a little lower drop, H&R springs will do just fine as well.
If you decide later, you can run Ground Control coilover sleeves with the Tokicos. I had several friends run that combination on the track for years.
