Tire On Wheel Fitment? Searched to no avail!

I just got a set of AT Italia Riva's 8x17 front w/ 40mm offset and 9.5x17 rear with 45mm offset. I am looking at the Kumho Ecsta MX 245/40-17 for the front and 285/40-17 for the rear. I am just looking for a sanity check before I place the order for the tires. Will I have any fitment issues with this setup? I know these are heavy wheels this setup is for street only. Turning my old wheels into a track set.

Tires can be seen here!

Manny, Rishie, Max, Johnny????? Any suggestions.

I should note that my second choice are the S0-3's (235/40-17F 265/40-17R) the reason is, I want as much rubber to the ground as possible. These new Kuhmo's have some very good reviews much better than the 712's/711's. Any comments as to esthetics i.e. too wide for the wheel size etc. are welcome.

TIA
Damian

I believe your best tire sizes to run are 235/45 and 265/40. This is your street vehicle so there's no sense in overdoing it. Retain your gearing as much as possible.

IMO, the 712 and 711 are not worthy of putting on the FD. The MX should be a good tire.

Thanks Rishie that is what I am looking for. If I go with those sizes I will probably go with the S0-3s though I am curious to see if the MX's are as good as what I have read. Do you think it's worth the gamble or should I just go with the tried and true S0-3s?

Go with the S03's. We just put some MX's on a car but I haven't gotten feedback. I'll see what I can find out though. I don't know if they can top the S03 so I guess you kinda got your answer.

It seems like the S03 is just absolutely phenomenal. It's gotten amazing reviews. **** the tire rack survey has them in the 9's. That's incredible.

Carbomer,

I am running 245/40/17's on an 8" rim and I like them because they are closer in tread width to the 255/40/17 I am running out back (looking for a less staggered setup).

I feel that the 285/40 you are looking at to be a little on the tall side.

I have pictures I can email you if they can be of any help.

David

What Rishie said.

I am curious about the MX tires, and they look like they would be good. I wouldn't go larger than 275/40-17 in the rear. The 235 or 245s should be fine in front, as long as they are listed as fitting on 8" rims.

I run 265s in the rear of my car on 9.5" wheels and they look right. S-03s are great. They have great traction and seem to be wearing quite reasonably on my car, despite frequent abuse. They haven't chunked much (a little on the edge of the center rib) in some track lapping. That is better than I expected, considering I was rough on them, intentionally sliding around with some understeer (screwy suspension setup) and lots of power-on oversteer. They are great tires. I'll probably get them again.

rishie's size advice is good...

I ran 235 on 9" not really wide enough and 265's on 10's..not wide enough either...Tires are AVS sports..

you should have fitment issue with rishie tire size recommendation and 45mm offset.

Thank you all gentlemen I ordered the 235/45 and 265/40 S0-3's last night. The nice thing about the S0-3's is they both have the same diameter. The closest in the MX was about 3/10" difference, this probably doesn't matter much but I am pretty linear so it makes me feel better.

Again gentlemen thank you, from those of us that are here to learn, observe, and translate your experience into our own.

Those tires look like the kumho ecsta supra's not the mx's. Maybe I'm wrong.
