tire size on wheels

I've tried searching, but can't really find anything on this. I was wondering if anybody could post up the minimum and maximum safe tire sizes for a 9.5 wide wheel.

Thanks a ton.

Probably the max would be 295, minimum would be 245, and 265-275 being ideal.

It also depends on the wheel diameter and the tire diameter. Shorter sidewalls need a more closely matched tire, whereas a taller sidewall can accept a wider range of wheel sizes. Look it up in the tire specs of the particular tire you're looking at, as different tires may have (slightly) different reccomendations. Also, no two tires of the same size from different brands or even different models from the same brand are the same size exactly, there are always variations in overall width, tread width and diameter, although it's usually pretty small.
