tire size for 18x8

finally got rims for my car but i was wondering whats the widest i can go with 18x8 rim(only for back). The rims came with tire already and the size was 225/35ZR/18. oh yeah rims are rpm2 45offset! i would greatly apperciate any help and yes i did look for it before i posted this

Every tire manufacture has a recomended tire to rim width spec for each tire

245 is usually the largest you can do on a 8" wheel that's within most manufacturer specs. People go outside of those all the time though.....

I wanted to go wide in the back. can I run 265 in the back safely?

If you look at the tires you want to run (using Kumho's as an example):

They have suggested rims sizes. Most 265's will recommend a minimum size of 9".

how about 255 for the rearß and leave the 225 in the front

You already have the information. Find the tire you want and check the specs. I'm not going to suggest running something a manufacture doesn't suggest. So, use your best judgment and run what you want.
