Tire Recommendations

I am looking forward to several track days and an autocross or two this spring and need suggestions on tires. I run a 93 FD Touring with a 98 jspec, 13-lbs boost and stock suspension and wheels. I am a novice driver who is looking to slowly improve his driving skills and enjoy this unbelievable car.

By running several searches I see that it has often been recommended to stay with a hard tire initially as you learn the car. This seems like good advise as I am currently far less capable than the car. I am currently on the stock size tire, 225-50-16, should I go to a 245-45-16 on all four? Will the larger size fit up front without any rubbing.

Your opinions and experience with tire size and brand are appreciated. Remember, I am a novice driver just out to enjoy his car.

Just get a quality 245/45 street tire for now -- Bridgestone S-03, Toyo T1-S, Yokohama AVS Sport, Pirelli Pzero. Save the R-compounds for when you actually have some experience.

That's the route I'm taking anyway. Going to Buttonwillow this Friday on my Dunlop 8000s, in fact...

I would upgrade suspension before tires. Body roll sucks
