Tire Help ASAP!

Tire Help ASAP!

I had another post where I was talking about getting Kuhmo MX's but the 255 series is on back order until July and I need to order the tire today.

Here are my choices in this size, 235/45,17 front and 255/40/17 rear.

Falken Azeni's
Toyo T-1S
Toyo Proxes 4(guy really talked these up but they are all season)

In a 225 front I can get the BFG T/A KD's but they are pricey.

Any other suggestions? I need to order them in the next 2 hours or so, nothing like waiting till the last minute

I don't care about wet weather performance, only dry, and if I get 10-12K out of them I'll be happy. Performance over price staying under $800.00.

Can't get T-1S's until Friday, out of stock...

How about A032R's?

They only have a 235/40/17 for the front and I'd lose a 1/4"...this is a R1 with Eibachs so its already a bit lower....think it might be too low?

I don't think the A032R will suit....

How wide are your rear wheels? If they are 9" or wider, you could also run 265/40 17.

You could go with Pirelli Pzero Asymmetricos in your sizes for under $700.

I checked and my front is a 235/40/17.

My buddy has Pirelli Corsa's on his M3 and you can almost pick those things up by the tread face

Pirelli makes it pretty tough to figuire out their models.

I run a 9" rim in the rear, will the 265 fit decent?

Went with Ecsta V700's....not sure how its going to work out but we'll see

$765 mounted, balanced, with tax.

There are warnings galore about heat cycling and blistering....they all say they are like the P-zero Corsa's which are hardly street tires either but they seem to hold up.

If I get 10K out of them I'll be happy.

I sort of doubt the V700 will last as long as the Corsa's, but neither will last long. I'll be beside myself with joy if my Corsa's last 7k miles. I'm guessing they'll become hard and un-grippy after about 5000 from the heat cycling. The V700 also more heat sensitive (they get a bit slick with high heat).

Sorry but bad choice. I agree with Nobleforums, you'll be lucky to get more than a few thousand miles and the grip will decline before that from the heat cycling. The Toyo RA-1 is the most streetable R-compound and I don't know of anyone making 10k miles of good grip on those....

out of the 3 tire, azenis has the most grip and the stiffest sidewall. However, azenis rt215 doesn't come in 255. The new azenis rt615 does have the 255 size, it cost $50 more per tire though. Azenis also has the lowest tread life rating, and it's pretty damn loud.

ok, I cancelled the 700's....

T1S's are on backorder for the 255's but I can get a 265/40/17, would that be too much of a difference in the 235/40/17 up front?

Good. 265/40 17 is same diameter as 235/45 17. Yes, you will get a tad more understeer in very tight corners, but the car will put the power down exiting medium to fast corners so much better.

I run 235/40 and 265/35 18 Toyo T1-S. It's a great tire. Not the absolute stickiest but quiet, good riding, still very good dry grip, great in the rain, and less expensive than most other "max performance" tires. As a plus, they also seem to wear very nicely at the track.
