Tie Rod removal & Installation
I basically have to remove my tie rod & reinstall a new one because of a drifting accident. I would like to know if there is anything I should be careful of & how complicated is it to actually get this bad boy out & a new one back in?
I really need to know this because there are a set of 18" Ro_Ja wheels waiting to bless my ride & I am not going to eat up the Falkens with the positive camber that a broken tie rod puts off.

Easy fix. Pull wheel off, Take out Cotter pin from Tie Rod nut. Remove Tie Rod nut from Hub asseblmy. Take a Tie Rod Seperator tool, or just pry the bitch off of the Hub. After, cut a small slit in the boot on the Tie Rod. The boot is on the Tie Rod, and Steering rack. Slip boot off. Unbend the washer, and unscrew Tie rod. Install in reverse order. Just make sure you bend the new washer and Cotter pin.
Once your in front of the car, it becomes very clear what to do. It may sound difficult, but its a breeze. Just be prepared to put some strength into unscrewing some of the parts.

Is the tie rod end or the tie rod (inner tie rod?) what you need to replace?
IMHO - Ali's response is in regard to getting the tie rod end off of the steering knuckle. Changing the tie rod ends is much easier than changing the tie rods.
The tie rods screw into the end of the steering rack and getting a wrench on these with the rack in the car (and the engine in the car) is going to be very difficult and should not be atempted without getting access to the factory service manual first.
Make sure that you have the special washers that are used to seat the tie rod to the steering rack. If your experience is like mine you won't want to try and reuse these once you get the tie rods off.

same thing I was thing about what Ali was talking about. Yeah, i'm slowly learning that the car will probably be towed to a place to work on it. I don't have the tools or the patients to do this on my own. Now the question is, where to take it

Definately change those washers If you need to remove the outer Tie rod (Tie rod ends) just pull the ends off of the hub. Then unscrew the ends from the inner Tie rod assembly. Its going to be a bitch to pull the ends off of the hub tho. IMO buy a tie rod puller ($10) from your local auto store, and give it a good push. It should come out. Also replace the cotter pins.
