Is there any difference in calipers on rear
#2
Your thread title makes it sound like you wonder if there is any difference between the two rear calipers -- i.e. can you swap left for right.
If you mean "did Mazda offer more than one rear brake system for a given model of RX-7", then the answer is probably yes, but maybe not the way you are thinking about it (number of pistons in the caliper). What is available depends on what year your car is. Whether it is an upgrade or not depends on what rear brakes it already has.
If you are asking about aftermarket rear brake kits, that is a another topic.
What year is your RX-7, what rear brakes does it have now, do you mean Mazda brakes or aftermarket?

From the post I'd guess that you have an FC, which came with either 4 piston or single piston brakes on the 5 lug cars, and single piston brakes on the 4 lug cars. The rear brakes are different between the two 5 lug cars. The 4 piston front brakes came with vented rear rotors that are slightly larger in diameter than the single piston brake cars which have solid rear rotors. The rear calipers are slightly different between the two, the vented rear brakes have wider calipers to fit the vented rotors. The bracket that holds the caliper is also different, being wider too. The pads are the same on the rear, but are different in the front. There are a few rear brake upgrades, such as the one available from Corksport, but unless you've got big brakes on the front, bigger rears aren't needed. Big brakes are rarely needed.
