thats not paint....
I love my set, completely change the ride of the car. Extremely adjustable and very easy to install. The JICs are also a nice option, a little more though and after driving my car with the Teins I dont know if I could be any more satisfied with spending extra on something else.

I'm getting the HKS Hipermax II. It's on it's way. Can't wait until I can put these on. I chose these because the spring rate isn't too hard, it's only 8kilo. Also, because I got them for super cheap, about the same price as the Tein HA, so around $1000, new too.
I can post feedback once they arrive.

I love them! I recently purchased a 93 R1 with no modifications, yet it was in need of new dampers/springs as the oe stuff was starting to show some age. As stated earlier, they were very easy to install (a little over an hour w/air tools). With the settings ranging from 1-16 (16 being the hardest) I set the dampers at 8Frt, 5Rr. I initially did that because I was living in Michigan (Greenville,SC now) and the roads SUCK! This set-up allowed most of the road shock to past through the car and get absorb by the rear dampers. I also wanted to dial in some understeer to create a safety margin until I got comfortable with an FR again. This setting is EXTREMELY comfortable. Imagine the the 7 going over a moderate pothole with stated setting. The front damper's compression/rebound cycle is quick, say 2/10 sec while the rears cycle @ 6/10. A lot slower and less abrupt as compression and rebound are adjusted simultaniously. The guy that owned it prior to my buddy getting it (repo) put some no-name "VRs" on the stock rims. In actuality, it's been a good thing as I can push the car at lower speeds and experience the 7s dynamics. In a sweeper with the current settings, I'm able to completely throttle-steer the 7 through the turn! Just as a note, front and rear damper set @ 16 and the ride is significantly stiffer than the R1 package! Haven't been on the track yet (early March) so no feedback yet. Conversely, "setting 1" will leave you with a ride close to a Ford Taurus! Yes, while it's "been said" Tein is a company that manufactures low-to-mid pack quality pieces, I'm really liking the way they've increased the build quality in the 04' compared to the 03's (thicker threads w/ protective coating). Hope that helps.

the only people who talk **** about the Teins are ****** l33ts who ***** themselves out so they can buy HKS or Apexi coilovers just so they can strut their **** online and act hard at car shows. Every Tein coilover setup ive seen has been of superb quality and i have never heard of them breakng, either.
