The swap is pretty straight-forward. Just make sure everything is tight when you put it back together. About adjusting the camber, I would just take the car straight to an alignment shop. Just my .02

You'll still be running the base rear shocks with the R2 fronts? Not sure what that will do to the balance of the car since the R2's are stiffer than the base shocks.

If you have a copy of the factory service manual it makes this very simple and straight forward, also lists all the torque ratings for the bolts.

1. Just make sure you have a decent set of coil spring compressors and know how to use them - out of control springs can maim or kill you.
2. How many miles on those R2 shocks? If I was going to all the trouble to take the suspension apart, I'd put on 4 new shocks - Koni adjustables, Bilsteins, or something similar. The cost of the shocks is negligible compared to the time and effort of changing them.

Your call - it depends on how much your time is worth (and your budget) whether it makes sense to install used shocks. Good luck.

i think the same looney guy that set the valve rate on the r1/r2 shocks decided upon the 800 pound springs on the "higher" end Tein coilovers....

the r1 shocks and 800 pound springs belong together. assuming you are driving your car on Jupiter where the gravity is 20X earth. ( well i don't know if it is 20X or 200X but you get my drift.)

back on earth... i have a shock dyno, a digital spring rate checker and 22 years of road racing experience. i have dynoed R1 shocks so i know exactly what's in them valvewise. they do not fit any springs the FD works well with.

what are you trying to accomplish w your car? tighten it up a bit for street? is so find a set of eibach springs and oem non r1 shocks and you will be a happy guy. 30 psi front 27-28 rear set stone cold.

BTW, what's w your shocks being shot? i have dynoed over 30 oem fd shocks and they all dynoed the same regardless of mileage. i did find one that had a leaking seal which of course was not functional.

good luck,

howard coleman
