suspension advice from the PRO'S!!
Hay guys, I have a 93 touring I put gab 5 way adjusting shocks on, used of course, and it brought my car down to low. suspention just don't fell as good as it use to. I have changed tires and rims to 225/45/17front and 255/40/17 rear. Streets are bad in Houston and I don't race on the track. should I just get a good set of stock R1 shocks and upgrade springs? What do I do with the gabs? are the gabs that much better than R1 stock? I must tell you I am beefing up my motor. What do you guys think?

Try some Eibachs or H&R street springs as taht they are both progresive rate (I know the H&R is) and a set of Tokicos or Koni adjustable shocks, set on soft for street driving.
I'm pretty sure teh GABs were meant for circuit use.
I thought the GABs were 8-way ..... oh yeah you need to match the shock to the spring not the spring to shock .... Meaning you will probably need to get the right spring rate to run with that shock ... it will probably make all the difference in the world. GABs like a much higher linear spring rate ... after much discussion I think the stock springs are progressive .....
Shocks will lower the car if they change where the spring perch (sp?) is. For instance, Koni yellows have 3-position ride height adjustment.
What GABs do you have? Are they red and say super-R on them, with 8 position black plastic ***** on the shock body? If so, you have super-Rs, which are pretty stiff shocks. I run mine on 3 front and 2 rear and that is pretty rough on the street. See what they look like here:

If they are white and have the adjustment at the top of the shock, they might be Tokiko. Tokiko is the only 5-position adjustable shock that I know of.
R1 shocks are pretty stiff. Konis can be pretty livable if you have them turned down a lot as they have soft compression damping at the beginning of thier adjustment scale. Tokikos are probably pretty decent for your needs, too.
Another thing to consider is if your wheels and tires are heavy, your ride will suffer significantly. Light wheels and tires give a smoother ride. If you are up near or over 50 lbs for a wheel/tire assembly, you might want to consider something lighter.
For some shock dyno charts of R1, Koni, and GAB super-R, see this page:

Hay thanks Guys you all know your stuff. I have the gab shocks with the black dial. and it has ebach springs 27/05 or 27/35 I can't read the numbers good. it has a screw on the top center of the shock with threds. Cant that be adjusted to lift the car? should i get taller springs? when I put my stock shocks on the front the car rides good with no rubbing but with the gabs in the front it botoms out
