Strut/Spring Combo problems
I'm running Tokico blues and Tanabe GF-210's. I really like the feel of the combo, but the stroke of the strut is longer than the spring hight. When the strut is fully extended, the hat is about 1/2" above the top of the spring, and the spring is free to move about as it pleases. I have been getting random klunking from the front end on the rough twisty roads I have to drive every day, and am assuming that the loose springs at full extension are the problem. So I have two questions.
A: Am I barking up the wrong tree?
2: If not, how can I fix this problem without having to get new struts/springs. (I plan on eventually getting coilovers, but that may be more than a year away.)
Thanks in advance for the help.

Wrong tree... you're suspension is never at full extension while driving, even if you get air momentarily... and if you got air long enough for them to be at full droop, you'd have bigger problems.
Check the bushings.
Check the bushings.
James if you're anywhere near Milpitas, Dana and I won't mind taking a glance at the suspension to see what's going on. Just let us know so we can schedule it into our day.
Take care,

So, After my last post on this thread, the klunking got worse. I was able to reproduce it with a quick jerk of the steering wheel to the right or left. I'm in the process of swapping my power steering rack from the parts car, and I'll update with the results.
