Stripped Lug :(
Got a small problem with my stock 91 wheel.
I can get 4 of the 5 lugs off, but the 5th one is stipped down that the lug remover just spins on it. Short of welding a lug onto the lug how could I get this undone. I have a flat on the passenger side and really want to drive my car. Anyone in Mi that can help or is there some simple way of removing stipped lugs?

Find a 12 point socket that will not quite fit over the lugnut and hammer it on, then use a breaker bar to remove the nut. This of course will probably destroy the socket but others have used this trick many times.

Take the car to a local tire dealership and have them use their lug nut remover to take it off.. Its basically just a socket that backs on to the lug nut with some teeth that help it get a better bite.. definatley stop trying to force it yourself and let some one with a air wrench and proper tools have a go..

that would be great to do if A. I had a way to tow it to the dealership. B. If I had money, I have only 1$ atm until this weekend when I work again. Basicly if I don't get it off and the spare on I can't get to work, so I can't get paid, to go buy a new tire. Its frustrating when you have no money.

Bridgeport Anyone??
This may sound stupid, but did you try vise grips? Sometimes that may work, or even a hammer and a chisel and just chip at it until you can get enough worked off to turn it slowly.

Of course you will destroy the lugnut, which at this point is no big deal. Be careful or you will be putting in a new stud as well if you damage or cross thread that thing. One of mine broke off and let me tell you how much of a pain that was. I had to press the damn axle out of the hub, then the hub out of the spindle, it was a nightmare. I hope yours doesn't go that route. Good luck man.

how bad is the flat???.. If you can get to an auto parts store, i think they sell stripped lug nut removers. They probably even have a torque wrench.. You could also start looking into public transportation.

tire is almost all the way off the rim. There is an autozone about a mile and a half from me. However, the public transportation system in the entire Detroit area sucks more than a hooker durring mardi gras.
Gonan try a few more tricks.
