street pad recommendations?
I'm looking for a good street pad with good initial bite and linear feel for daily driven fc.
I have hawk hps on right now with some cquence slotted/drilled rotors. They work fine but I was never that impressed by the stopping power.
I'm switching to brembo blanks, getting rebuilt calipers, maybe ss lines if I have the money and looking for recommendations on pads.
Should I just stick with hawk hps or switch?
I read a bit about ebc greens and stoptech street performance pads but thought I would ask here for some input.
thanks

If you want to stay w/Hawks, the HP+ have very good initial bite. My set squealed enough that I took them off the car though.
EBC green/red/yellow are all very streetable and make no noise in my experience. Look into those..... they've changed compounds over the years i think but they bite pretty well.
IMO a lot comes down to tires. With my Yoko AD08 my FD stops NOW, this of course with a Racing Brake four corner BBK. Stock ABS.

I personally have porterfield pads, and love the heck out of them. Definitely top notch stuff.

I don't know about FDs, but the ABS in FCs not only sucks *****, it's flat out dangerous. Heck, ABS in any car scares me lol.

I also liked the Porterfield R4S compound on my S4.
Hawk HP's; noisy/dusty...will suck your eye-***** out though...
EBC Yellowstuff, new compound has good reviews, good for street and light HPDE.
" " $Bluestuff$, Streetable, track-worthy pad. Their newest pad, not to many
reviews from the RX-7 community.
Don't forget a complete fluid flush and a hi-temp/wet boiling point fluid such as
ATE, Wilwood etc.

^^I've been using the MX72 on street and track and have found them to be phenomenal. Barely any noise, dust isn't horrible, and the stopping on street is very good. I'm looking to move up to some of the more track-oriented Endless pads (ME-22 I think?) to be able improve stopping on track. My entry speeds to many corners are really getting up there and I'd have more confidence with pads that can really slow you FAST

Depending on how hard you are going to be driving on the streets, there is probably no need to spend a bunch of money on high boiling point brake fluid, just get some pretty inexpensive DOT 4 from the parts store.
However, if you are going to be doing some serious braking, yeah then that's when I recommend some really good brake fluid. Here is a pic of my daily driver that I would take up the mountains a couple times a week. One time after pushing my car as fast as I could for about 20 miles, I actually boiled my brake fluid into a jelly like substance and made my rotors glow. I literally had close to 0 stopping power.

For street use, I have always been a big fan of the Axxis ultimates. Zeckhausen racing sells them.
I also like the Racing Brake pads. I run the 500s on the street and they are fantastic but I am also running their full BBK so no experience with them on regular brakes.
The Axxis do dust more than the RB et500 though

i just ordered some EBC redstuff pads front and rear... my car is 100% street driven, and my primary concerns were minimal dust, and initial bite.... from the reviews ive read, the redstuff pads fit that bill nicely. ill find out soon when i get them on.
my current pads are either axxis or akebono, i cant remember which, but ive had both of those recently, and really was not impressed with the bite on either.

I would stick with the Hawk HPS pads.....they are a good pad. I run them on my rx7. I used to run HP+ pads on my prelude.....and they would dust a lot....they do squeal some....but that never bothered me. They did really well when heated up....really well.
When you talk about initial bite....you are talking about the ramp time to full braking power? If you aren't experiencing brake fade.....I would stick with what you have. Just MO.

I'm looking into the EBC BlueStuff pads, but I can't find many reviews from the RX-7 community. Anybody have any personal experience with them?
I also can't seem to find BlueStuff part numbers that I'm 100% confident are correct. Some sites are listing certain part numbers as FC only, and other sites show they will work on the FD. Anybody KNOW the actual part numbers for F+R BlueStuff pads for the FD?

Crazy, I went to EBC's site and clicked on the pad (EBC Blue), than clicked purchase in the US and here's what I found.

There is no BlueStuff pad for the rear of the FD....Why do you want these pads in particular?

I guess I'll go with BlueStuff in the front and YellowStuff in the rear.
I tried 3 different sites out of the plethora they had listed, and none of them were nearly as straightforward as the one you had gone to. Guess I'll check that one first in the future.
Edit: I believe they DO make a BlueStuff for the rear. One of the sites showed a conversion technique to determine your BlueStuff part number: switch the DP4 prefix to DP5 and drop the R at the end. So the DP4729R will convert to DP5729, which is a listed part.

+1 for EBC Yellows. They bite just fine cold and I have yet to fade them in very highspeed multiple stops. Have a few back roads that vary from 6 to 10 miles long I play on. Never had them on a road course, but I think they would be fine, at least for a few laps. No noise. Will eat your rotors and throw alot of dust.

I've been through pretty much ever brake pad in this thread and no one has mentioned the best ones of all.
Porterfield R4S don't dust up too much, don't fade too much, heat up quickly and the ones on my FD have lasted almost 2 years and about 5 trackdays. I'm sold.

I had the Porterfield R4-S on my FC for over 10 years and really liked them.
Then when I got my FD with Hawk HP+ I had to switch the FC to HP+ as well. Made the Porterfields feel like they had low bite.
Brake squeal, dust and sparks at night (burning into your rims) are a downside to some, but I will keep buying the HP+.

Run far far away from the Hawk HPS pads. The one set I tried on the S2000 were by *far* the suckiest pads I've ever experienced. I immediately noted less bite and softer pedal feel than the OEM S2000 pads on the street. At the track, they gave up any semblance of performance after less than a lap, I could not baby them enough to keep them working (and I'm easy on brakes). Fortunately they quickly turned to dust after three shortened 10-minute sessions, and I had to swap the OEM pads back in. The OEM pads are not track pads by any stretch, but performed OUTRAGEOUSLY better than the HPS.
HP+, on the other hand, have worked very well for me. Crazy initial bite. Lots of dust and noise, too, though...

^HPS aren't track pads, and aren't designed to be used as such
I'm loving Endless MX72 as dual-purpose street/circuit pads. Low dust, no noise, and work very well on track on a modified FD

Of which I'm well aware. I have squeaked by on street tires in the S2k with OEM pads, I figured HPS would *at least* be a tiny step up from that. But they were a HUGE step in the other direction!
Don't know what purpose they serve if they're worse than stock on the street (less bite, softer pedal) and totally unusable/dangerous for anything resembling high performance driving!
