Stoptech rotors and wheel offset

Hello all

I'm looking into using larger front rotors with a modified front caliper in my 3rd gen.

I will be running 17x9 +45 wheels in the front. They will be extremely close to the front fender. One concern I have is that if I replace the entire rotor assembly, will this change the mounting location of the wheel? If the mounting surface is any thicker than stock I may be in trouble.

I am looking into either a 332x32 or 325x32 rotor if that makes any difference.

Thanks!

Which wheel are you using?

Depending on the Caliper a 13" big brake system won't clear the drop centers in some of the higher offset 17x9 wheels.

For the FD: 17x9 +45 RPF1 and Racing Brake for example don't work. front or rear.

It wasn't an issue of the spoke clearing the caliper it was actually the drop center on the "inner barrel" of the rim that is an obstruction.

The 18x9.5 however will clear in +45 RPF1.

The Stoptechs wouldnt fit with my Fikse FM5s..... using the template on the Stoptech site there would be an overlap of 1mm where the rear of the spokes hit the front side of the caliper.

This was one of the reasons why I chose the Racing Brake setup, with the shallow offset option:

Very interesting thank you for the input guys!

Rishie it sounds like it is very close to fitting in the 17 inch RPF1's. Do you think it would fit with the stock calipers spaced out 3/4 of an inch? I have not seen them in person, but the stoptech calipers look much larger than the stock ones.

So I thought this might help other guys as a reference for the RPF1 17x9 +45 and fitment issues with brake systems.

Based on this chart the OD for the complete brake assembly including caliper is 15.02"

http://www.stoptech.com/tech_info/ch...46-2450-00.pdf

Now for photos of the INSIDE BARREL RPF1 17x9 +45. We're looking at the "drop center" or chamfer that you see in the photo.

You'll see the ID for the barrel along the chamfer goes from about 14.5" to 15.25". So this might still be a problem because of the location of the chamfer. 14.5" is your limiting factor.

This chamfer begins at about the same level as the mounting surface of the wheel pad. You can consider that the "origin".

the offsets sorta matter depending on what kind of wheel you get. you can still go with a lower offset if you get a wheel that has a "high profile" or "high disc" to clear the brakes. the Advan AVS model 5, RS model, and the new Blitz racing profile wheels are good examples of high profile wheels
