Stock size tires and rims rubbing.

I bought my car with aftermarket rims already installed but they are 16"...the stock size tires are also in use, yet when cornering, it rubs pretty bad. It rubs to the point that the top of the metal fender well is coming unrolled on both sides and its hitting the plastic inner fender as well. When I was inquiring about my car and purchasing it, there was no mention made of ever lowering it, but the springs are red and it rides rougher than the 95 I rode in, but aren't they smoother anyway? Is my problem my offset?is it lowered?
Thanks,
Ryan

Yes it is lowered. The wheels may themselves be fine as I'm experiencing rubbing with the stock wheels with my aftermarket suspension as well. However, I believe my problem is due to either spring sagging or bad spring mounts. I've got to get it figured out very soon here but I've been too busy.

You may also have a problem with the offset on your wheels. If they are offset a little to far out, that would cause the problem you are experiencing. I suggest that you pull off one of your wheels, and measure the backspacing. Then check it against a stock wheel. PM me if you need a stock wheel measurement. I have an extra set of wheels in the garage.

ok. I'll check backspacing later today, but would you say that it is definately lowered? Merry Christmas.

My car is a 94 with stock suspension, and stock height tires. On flat ground, the outside of drivers side rear fender well measures 26 1/2" from the ground. Since yours is a 93, it probably came a little lower from the factory than a 94. If it is more than 1" lower than mine, it is definitely lowered.
