Stock Pillow Mounts w/ TEIN HA's

who has installed these coilovers with the stock mounts? I searched around but couldn't really find anything useful for the install. I bought Michel's old set-up but didn't get the directions, so if anyone has these, I'd like to see a copy...is this something TEIN could provide to me? guess I'll call them.

I gave the install a try this weekend and got owned pretty bad...I've installed springs and struts before figured CO's wouldn't be too difficult.

I got everything to fit in there...but once the car was on the ground the piston (arm thing) that comes thru the tower, sits way to high...like drill a hole, put a clip on it and call it a hood pin type of length?!?! WTF mate?

the only thing I can think of...is the piston spacer wasn't thick enough? And I didn't want to stack the stock one & the TEIN one.

the TEIN and the stock strut were the same from the base (lower control arm mount) to the spring perch

here is a similar diagram I found...only difference is I have a helper spring under the stablizer.

If anyone has any helpful idea's of where I went wrong please share.

TIA

People had problems with the JIC's being too tall as well. They added a spacer between the shock mount and the strut tower.

Thanks Damon...

I guess I'll have to find a thicker spacer

I have the Tein HA's with the stock uppers. Be sure to use the large rubber doughnut-like spacers from the stock uppers. If you do not, the shaft will stick up like you described. It was a real PITA to install those shocks for me. What made it worse was after I was doe I figured out that I placed those damn rubber spacers incorrectly, so I had to do it all over again. When installed correctly the strut shaft should stick up around 1 " from what I can remember.

just fabricate spacer on a lathe..
looks like youe missing the piece that holds the spring to the shock body aslo thats why the insert is sitting so high, spacer should sit inbetween ththis and the tops to allow the pillow ball top to move freely
