Stance Coilover Impressions

All,
I just installed a set of Stance GR+ Coilovers on my FC and I have to say that they are a good product.

I was previously running Eibach Springs and Tokico Illumina's. I have also run Koni Yellows. The Stances are definately more firm than either of those setups. For many people street driving will be too rough. This is not my DD so that is not a problem.

We had an AutoX on sunday and had a chance to run against one of my good friends RX-7's. His FC weighs 2100lbs and he is running Koni Yellows with Ground Control Coilover springs and camber plates. No interior (no passenger seat) removed sunroof and lexan windshield. Tires 205/50/15 Goodyear Track Tires (Worn out)

My car still has 90% interior. I estimate weight at 2400-2500lbs. We both are running RB Street Headers with a single 2.5" exhaust. Our dyno power numbers are almost identical. I am running on Toyo RA-1 205/50/15 also worn out.

I consider both of us to be equivilent drivers. I have competed divisionally and nationally in SOLO II in STX and STU Classes in a Subaru STI. He runs mainly locally but has alot of seat time at Hallet MRC.

On Sunday we traded times back and forth but were always on the same second and I ended up with fastest time by two tenths.

I would say the Stance product was a big factor in my times being close to his. The car handled very predictably and even with a horroibly rough surface the car was controllable. I have not had the car aligned so I am sure there is even more improvement to be had. From pictures the car is nearly flat in hard cornering. I give them a thumbs up for a good product.

That's great news. Stance FTW!!!! Great Product considering it's price point, just phenomenal i tell ya.

I have the GR's on my FC also and while they ride a little stiff, they handle beautifully. They don't ride as nice as my Zeals but on track performance is better.

i was gonna say, a FC at 2100lbs is pretty darn light. I'm quite amazed, that's lighter than a miata.

Most stock FC's will be between 2650 and 2850 lbs depending on your trim etc....

I'm thinking your cars weigh more than you might expect but who knows, a lot of weight reduction can be had.

congrats, rishie

My car was originally a base model 4 lug. Manual windows and door locks. Removed AC, power steering, air pump and secondary actuators. Storage bins are gone along with rear carpet. No radio and drivers seat is a Cobra light weight race seat. Running single exhaust. Replaced the steel hood with the aluminium. I do need to weigh the car but I guess it is around 2400lbs.

He has had his car weighed and is definately ~2100lbs. There is nothing in that car that isn't required for it to run.

And yes they are better than doing a setup like this, money wise:

Illuminas
Eibach or RB springs
Tein Camber plates
Tein Rear Upper Mounts

That **** will add up to nearly the same as the stance. That's why i sold that setup and got the stance's. It just made sense.

Money is a little tight right now, I don't think I'll be ordering the stance coilovers anytime soon, but its nice to know you're there to hook it up ARD T2. I can order some other things from the (yours?) site because I have some gift cards that are worth about $100 each!

Rishie, tried PM'ing you but your box is full, text here:

Just saw your post re: a deal on the Stance coilovers, can you tell me about that? Their site doesn't say much about them, e.g. spring rates, whether damping is adjustable, etc. do you know? Thanks in advance.

There's more info here:

Standard stuff, Monotube, independent lower bracket, 15 way adjustable, great warranty and service, extremely affordable.

Thanks,
