18 x 8.5 235/40 and 18 x 10 275/35. I was worried when i ordered them, but very happy now that they are mounted. just thought I would share. Seems everone is going to the painted stuff lately.

Sweet one of my favs. Do you have a side view of them on your car. Are they heavy? Never could find any weight info on them. They look great!

They look great. What suspension set up do you have with them?

I think they look great! How about giving us a side view like RX-8 requested?

Heck yeah, those are nice wheels. But you forgot to list the offset for the front and the offset for the rears. Also, can you please post more pics, like a side view, and a rear view so we can see how far out they stick?

Thanks buddy,
Tom

What do you mean about the painted stuff? Absolutely love the wheels. I almost bought some of those. Are they true 2 or 3 piece wheels?

Beautiful! Love the deep dish look in the rears! Did you weigh the GT3 wheel/tire combo? Interested in what they weigh? The GT1s and Integral A2s are very close in 9 x 17, 45-mm offsets with 255/40-17 Yokohama AVS Intermediates @ 45 lbs each--according to mine (IA2s) and ttb's (GT1s) weighings of our respective wheel/tire setups

side view. This is the standard set up straight from tire rack. I'm lowered with eibach pro springs (little over an inch) and yellow koni's left at the high position. I have no idea how much they weigh but they are heavier than stock.

Are you happy with 8.5's in the front? ...Have you pushed a hard corner yet?
Did you choose those sizes or they were recomended?

These were probably Tire Rack-approved front widths. Very conservative. You can run up to 9.5-inch wide up front even with stock style OD springs (with 50 to 51-mm offset)! 255/40-17 on 9.5 x 17 or 265/35-18 on 9.5 x 18 (with a 50 or 51-mm offset!)!

SleepR1: Hey dude, you know I totally respect your knowledge in this section, especially since you are the moderator here, but how are you coming up with these figures? Have you personally seen/driven it on an FD or are you going by some other members' posts? I've read of other guys doing it too, but I've never driven a setup like this myself to see about potential rubbing of the fenders. With my fenders being in perfect condition, the last thing I want is to pull the lip out and crack the paint.

Thanks buddy,
Tom

Tire Rack quoted me something on the order of 27 lbs per/wheel for 18" GT3s.

i don't think i'd attempt to run 9.5" up front unless I was a competitive autocrosser, but i've spoken my peace on this before....

My thoughts exactly. I'm thinking of going with an r1 spoiler. Anything lower and it would be destroyed driving on the crapy roads in miami beach. And speaking of the black paint- A good tint job is a cheap way to make it look ten times better. (to be honest, this is stock 93 paint and it looks a lot worse in person.) It's almost painfull to wash it and find the new scratches every week.

It's magic Seriously I know the front space and back space limits for the FD Rx7. Front space @ the front wheel positions is up to 3 inches, rear wheels, max is closer to 4 inches. Back space clearance for front wheels is 7.25 inches for stock springs, and 7.5 inches for FDs with 2.5-inch OD springs. Rear back space is 7.5 inches with with stock trailing arms and 7.75 inches with tubular (M2-type) trailing arms. From those clearance values, you can just crunch the numbers for offset and wheel width and figure out what the max width will be (adding 1-inch to the nominal wheel widths for proper clearance values). IME (in my experience), I've run up to 9.5-inch wide (42-mm offset) SSR Comps with 275/40-17 Hoosier R3S03s up front with no rubbing. The reason for running wider tires up front is for preserving the FD Rx7's handling balance. It's damn close to neutral. With wide tires in back, skinny tires up front, the FD will push (understeer) at the handling limit. Most street drivers never feel this, since they'd need to be hauling *** around the curves to get close to the handling limit. If that's the case, feel free to run staggered (skinny front, wide rear)! Nothing wrong with the looks. For those of us who track/autocross the FD, same size tires works well, because the car will turn into corners like it's supposed to. Now with high-hp, heavily modded FDs, staggered might work out better, but it depends on the driver's skills. Some drivers like some tail out drifting with power down--which might scare the pee out of other drivers. Depends on what YOU want as the "nut" behind the wheel

Yikes 27 lbs each! Duhham! That's hefty! The SSR GT1s are closer to 19 lbs each in 9 x 17, 45-mm offset! Personally, I'd do 9.5 x 17 all around in 50- or 51-mm offset, with 255/40-17. Tire size plays a huge factor in clearance. Staying within the stock overall diameter of 25 inches will help. IMO, 255s look and perform better on a 9.5 than on a 9. The difference would be subtle at best, but hey, if I were doing it over, that's what I'd do Currently the only 1-pc wheel with an offset close to 50 for a 9.5 x 17 is the CE28N (47-mm offset). If you don't like the CE28N, you'd need to go Fikse, Forgeline, or CCW for a custom setup.

SLEEPR1: Now that was an excellent post- backin up what you say with actual numbers, not just "he said, she said". That's some useful data for us all. Thanks again buddy.

TOOKWIK: Yeah, those do look pretty close to mine. I tried looking up specs on them but can't find anything. What are they made out of? Are they 1 piece or 3 piece? And do they come in different offsets?
