P.S. Does that mean you will be liable if the wheels don't fit if you are charging now?
No, after you were the 3rd person that PM'd that day for wheel offset advice, I thought I should start charging (I was getting PMs DAILY on the subject). $5 isn't worth my time, but $250 is for a complete written recommendation--IS. I'm not liable for problems with a max width fitment recommendation b/c there's so much variability between FD Rx7 suspensions. Good luck!

So is $250 the going rate then?

I doubt anyone would pay that much for advice, but you could open your own wheel shop, and recoup your costs that way.

i'm sure there's at least one rich 3rd gen sap on here that would pay it....But I would say he will just be getting a hell of a lot less PMs now.

EXACTLY Sometimes a seemingly high price tag is enough to deter the "Forum Rats" that lurk here LOL

Not interested in setting up a wheel shop, although wheel dealers SHOULD be providing the info you all seek. It's a travesty that for you all to get a discount, you sacrifice quality information on fitment.

I propose that rynberg, dclin, maxcooper, DamonB, and I setup our own company for FD Rx7 Wheel/Tire/Suspension consultations; once we all start charging for advice, we'll begin to see a decline in redundant questions, and soliciations for advice on this forum LOL.

My point is that all the info you seek is here. You just have to be savvy enough to find it. Like 7racer posted in another thread, "this ain't rocket science", although that quote is coming form a doctor...so maybe this stuff is rocket science for the average FD enthusiast LOL

Peter, I'm pretty sure you wouldn't pay for my advice. You strike me as someone who doesn't pay retail LOL

I came up with that number based on the average purchase price of a set of Volks or other high-quality wheel is ~$2500; 10% of $2500 is $250. You pay your restaurant server what, 15% to 20% of the dinner tab? I'm a bargain! 10% is a small price to pay someone for quality info on fitment. Afterall, who wants a set of ill-fitting wheels? I claim no responsibility for rubbing--if you're going with a max-width fitment. There's too much variability between FD suspension systems for me to be responsible for a max width, minimum clearance fitment!

Bwhahahahah! No wonder I've had an upsurge in wheel info PMs. Of the 1102 PMs I have in my inbox as of today, a good majority are questions about offsets, etc, hehe.

Start charging for advice, Daniel. That or don't reply. That will teach people to use the search function, and learn about offsets themselves.

They are. Now I need to find my next set of wheels. Maybe some CP-035R's?

Did you see the pics of what I bought, Manny?

BTW, was talking to my guy at Tirerack the other day and asked about the GT2s. You're right, he rattled off a bunch of offset numbers for different sizes and almost none of them corresponded with the Japan sizes/offsets. Sheesh, Tirerack (one of the distributors for SSR in the US) has more clout then I thought - can't be cheap for SSR to make different sizes/offsets for the US. Wish I could get the complete list, but at least we know the 9.5" +50 is available.

Tire Rack moves a lot of SSR product, so it's no wonder we get our very own offsets LOL 93 R1 had a set of SSR Comps in 9.5 x 18, 50-mm offset with 265/35-18 Yokoham ES100s. He loved them, and never had problems with rubbing. I suspect the GT2s in the same size in offset will be as trouble-free, but I don't think the GT2s will be as light as the Competitons.

FWIW, I got a reply from "Brandon" of Gruppe S. They can import the SSR GT2s in the Japan spec offsets. The downsides are: the wheels don't come with lug nuts or centercaps--only centering rings, and the wait time. He quoted me $415 each for 9 x 17, and $515 for 18s.

Probably just as well to get the SSR GT2s from Tire Rack. You get custom "truck style" center caps, lug nuts, centering rings, and once the GT2s arrive June 16, you'll get the wheels in a much more timely fashion!

"I wonder if any of the new SSRs (the GT7 or the GT2) have that 10.5" wide fitrment available like on the comps?"
I'm really interested. Could you tell me where to find them? Thanks a lot,

Craig

The 'rack told me the GT7s are only going to be available in 9.5" wide (max), and not until June.

Herblenny has the 10.5" Comps, i forget the exact offset... and they are available at the 'rack, though not listed as an approved fitment.

PM Herblenny, or search for a thread that was in the wheels for sale forum about them.
