Squishy sound on new (used) coilovers?

I installed a set of used HKS coilovers and as i was lowering the car back down the pass. side front coilover made a kind of squishy sound (you can make the same sound with your mouth ), i checked the valve and it was open slightly, so i twisted it closed, no more sound.
so, the question is, is this a bad thing? normal? do i need to have it rebuilt?
I'm new to the suspension field, so bear with me if its a stupid question, i just don't know.

I appreciate the help.

i have older mazdaspeed coilovers made by kyb and they make squishy noises from the rear when i go over bumps. previous owner told me they did same thing with him since new. not sure if that is what you're talking about.

my teins have made a similiar noise for years, and they are definatly not blown. I wouldnt worry so much about the sound as long as everything feels solid.

yeah, they feel fine from what i can tell, i'm in the middle (more like 80%) of a swap, so it hasn't hit the road yet.

Thanks for the reply's guys. if something feels wrong i'll get it checked out.

What you're hearing is the oil passing through the valves in the shock. It's normal.
