Squishy sound on new (used) coilovers?
I installed a set of used HKS coilovers and as i was lowering the car back down the pass. side front coilover made a kind of squishy sound (you can make the same sound with your mouth :)), i checked the valve and it was open slightly, so i twisted it closed, no more sound.
so, the question is, is this a bad thing? normal? do i need to have it rebuilt? I'm new to the suspension field, so bear with me if its a stupid question, i just don't know. I appreciate the help. |
i have older mazdaspeed coilovers made by kyb and they make squishy noises from the rear when i go over bumps. previous owner told me they did same thing with him since new. not sure if that is what you're talking about.

my teins have made a similiar noise for years, and they are definatly not blown. I wouldnt worry so much about the sound as long as everything feels solid.

yeah, they feel fine from what i can tell, i'm in the middle (more like 80%) of a swap, so it hasn't hit the road yet.
Thanks for the reply's guys. if something feels wrong i'll get it checked out. |
What you're hearing is the oil passing through the valves in the shock. It's normal.

Yep. My RS*R coilovers do the same thing. I think my Tokico Illuminas did the same thing as well. Its perfectly normal.
