Are the springs themselves SPRUNG or UNSPRUNG weight?

General rule of thumb is half. Same for the axles, shocks etc.

Like everyone else has said, half is the general rule of thumb. If you get shocks that you can run upsidedown then you're ahead of the game because you can run the shock body attatched to the car and decrease your sprung weight a little. Just something racers do.
