spring/strut disassembly

I have lost my workshop manual but I will continue looking for it. I thought I would give the forum a try...I have pulled my strut/spring assembly off the car and want to disassemble the piece but the bolt on the top keeps spinning in place (with the strut shaft). Any tips?

thanks for the help,

Anthony

Yeah, you will need an impact driver to get it loose. I ran into the same problem when I did my coilover setup.

Also the fronts I believe have nuts on the top of the strut mount that you can wedge a screwdriver between to keep the center shaft from spinning. On the rear however, this does not work.

yeah I used a air ratchet to do mine the other day and had no problems.. BTW, remember to use spring compressors to compress the spring before you start removing that nut.

thanks for the tips...i ended up uncompressing the springs to allow the top perch to seat against the rubber stop....then i was able to loosen the top nut. then i compressed the spring and removed the top nut completely. then i pulled the spring off from the strut.

thanks again guys,

anthony
