snow tire advice needed

hey every1,
First off, if all you're going to do is post on how sucky the FD is in snow, and how im an absolute lunatic to be driving in it, then please leave this thread. I drove her all winter last year in the snow with Falken 451's on all corners and i did perfectly fine as long as i kept her WAY out of the turbos (no more than 5-7mm vaccuum). However, i would like the added safety of snow tires. My father's BMW 540i 6-spd was CRAZY in the snow with Dunlop 2000's on it...but the second he switched to Dunlop Winter Sport M2's, it was like driving a 4x4. The choices tire-rack has for the stock rims are the following:
Bridgestone Blizzak LM-22
Bridgestone Blizzak WS-50
Michelin Pilot Alpin
Pirelli Winter 210 SnowSport

they are all within $20/tire of each other, so if anyone on here has had experience with these tires please post your opinion

thanks,
-Zach

drPMJ1, which blizzaks so u have? they sell the LM-22 or the WS-50...im thinking about the 50's because they mentioned something about better traction with the multicellular compositon, and the 50's have that

I just installed Yokohama Avid V4's (all season), and I never expect to see snow with these tires. They have the best grip/ price/ treadwear combo, IMO. I imagine they will do just peachy in snow.

By far, the best snow/ice tire I have ever run, and the cheapest is the Green Diamond from Sweden. They have little carbide crystals molded in each tire and are entirely street legal. I have them in my Subaru and can acclerate on snow and ice almost like dry ground. Check out http://www.greendiamondtire.com/

Yeah, kinda. It looks like you ran over glass with the tires, but those are the carbide "flavor crystals". 100% street legal though. And they supposedly last 40,000 miles! I love mine.

These were for my Subaru. I'm not sure what sizes they have for 16" wheels, sorry.
