VA Slow/Sponge Like Brakes

I just got my RX7 GXL 1987 1.3L (first rotary), I step on the brakes, and they work they just take more pressure then normal to stop the car, like I have something pushing the car from the rear with weight. I have to increase the stopping distance 2x further for higher rates of speed. and help?

i've changed my brake pad recently and had some issue to push back the piston on the rear callipers. I had to take one of the calippers off the car to do it. During this, some air came in the brake line. I was running late so i haven't clean the lines properly and now i've the same feeling as you said. Basically i have to push the brake pedal twice, first time it doesn't really do anything, the second time the car stop perfectly (using carbon-kevlar pad ).

So if it can help, i'd say bleed all the air bubble from the brake line, drive around and check your brake fluid level hasn't decreased (leaks somewhere on the line). also if you have issue from the rear, one of my disc looked like it was pinched only on one half of the surface. I suppose that's because last time i rebuilt my callipers, i forgot to align the brake piston with the foolproofing pin on the brake pad...

Dunno if it helps you...

Do you know how much brake fluid is needed to flush your system? I'm planning installing SS braided lines and new pads next weekend but I need to know how much fluid to buy...Thanks in advance!

300ML if you're pro, 500ML if you're good and want to be sure, 1000ML if you're American.

I was stupid and put DOT 5 in my FD. It took a GALLON (3.8L :-p) to get it cleaned out.....I filled up an entire milk jug. Fortunately the auto stores here have DOT 3 for $7.00 a Liter. Then I replaced it with ATE Super Blue.

Yikes!

Protip on flushing the brake fluid: ATE Super Blue and ATE TYP 200 'super yellow' are the same thing with different colors. If you start with super blue and want to do a flush, just keep pumping until the color comes out yellow, super easy. Then next time, change to blue. You'll find that you can flush it with one 300ml can that way. This is a good way to learn if you're not sure. Once you learn how you can switch to a better brake fluid like Motul RBF600.

either clean out the pad guides or you might need a bleeding kit since its hard to remove all the air. you want vaccum in the lines
