slotted rotor noise

just installed powerslot rotors rear and EBC dimpled/slotted rotors on front. I used hawk street pads and stainless braided lines all around. Now I have a buzzing sound coming from the wheels. The sound is there when the brakes are applied or not and comes from both sides of the car. It's not REALLY loud, just slightly annoying.
Is this normal? Seems like i would have heard some stories about this before if so...

Your pads might be a little thick. Did you have any trouble getting the pads on? The sound might go away once you wear down the extra thickness.

several people--myself included--have found that slotted rotors do tend to make a noise....sort of a grinding or raspy sound with a swish swish swish behind it. Not as bad as shot pads grind but a noise never the less. This problem is made worse by kevlar or carbon metalic pads. The only relief is to bed the pads in properly. But, in the case of my green stuff kevlars the noise comes back once they get wet or the pads glaze over from light breaking. good luck

I noticed the buzzing noise too. It bugs! Any way to get rid of it? I'm using Endless pads with my Brembo slotted/dimpled rotors. How do I "bed the pads in properly"?

I have Powerslot rear rotors with KFP carbon-kevlar pads and there is mild swish noise as keynote22 says, but not at all annoying or grinding.

Also agree that the pads need to be bedded well, and that they get noisy again after extended mild use.

I'm assuming you installed all V-clips in your rear pads and that all the front pad hardware is also in place. Not using them causes more noise and doesn't hold the pads away from the rotors when you drive, which ends up glazing and overheating the pads. I only say this because a mechanic left out my rear V-clips once, and the pads were ruined before I figured out the prob.

Thanks for the info. I've got all the hardware in correctly ( I think) and I bedded in the pads as per Hawk instructions. The only question is if I have the rear springs in correctly? I can't find any pictures of how they are inserted in the tech manuals, etc. Anyone have a picture?
The fronts make the noise too and I know the springs are in correctly there so I'm just going to assume the noise is somewhat normal.
Thanks again for your time, BTW, anyone want a f/r brake caliper with a broken/failed to extract bleeder screw? (Thats another fun weekend project, craftsman screw extractors don't work as well as you think...)

The V-Clips on the rear pads should be installed like this as you look at the caliper/rotor from behind:

I'm bringing this thread back from the dead.

I have a loud "rubbing" noise coming from the rear passenger brake set up. When I apply the brakes softly at slow speeds, I get this "rubbing" noise. I wouldn't quite describe it as a grinding. It almost sounds like your dragging a piece of rubber against a bathtub. It vibrates slightly (can't feel it through the pedal) , rubs, and echo's through the car.

The sound is intermittent, inconsistent, and appears to be getting worse over time (time being less than 2 weeks). I haven't done much HARD breaking with the car. It's mostly stop and go city traffic and the noise is most noticeable coming to stops.

I have goodrich SS brake lines, Power Slot Rotors, and Hawk HP+ pads. The car had this set up when I purchased it, and the driver indicates these were broken in correctly. The set up has < 15,000 miles on it.

I haven't given the brakes a thorough inspection yet, and had gained several ideas from this thread.

Has anyone else had this problem?
