sloppy suspension that botoms out

I've got uknown suspension, most likely stock(FC4S SE). the car bottoms out if I go over a bump more than 4" tall at ne speed greater than 15mph. also if I push down and release on the front or rear of car it bounces slightly and takes almost a whole seccond to return to starting position. I'm wondering if I need to replace both the springs and shocks or just the shocks. if it's just the shocks I was wondering if I could slap on fd touring shocks on my car since someone on the forum is selling some for a good price.

I just want to make this car safe for my driving pleasure at the moment.

Sounds like you have a blown shock or shocks. And no, FD shocks won't work on an FC.
