skinnie tire, wide rim???

i just picked up some sick old school mesh style wheels. 16x9 all the way around. they are going on my GTU (daily driver, renesis project). since this car will not being a "high performance" car. i wanted to make the look of the car as nice as possible.

i really like the "JDM DoRifto" look...lol on the wheels. wide rimes with skinny tires. i see it a lot on old school VW's too. so if my wheels are 9 inchs wide, what tire would i use for that? 7-8??? 215-225?

basically, whats the skinniest tire i could put on a 9 inch rim?

The skinniest tires you can put on 9" would be 245. 235 cut off is 8.5 wide.

While I don't get into the whole stretched tire thing, I've seen 215's used on 9" wheels for "the look" quite a bit.

i have a set of 225's on my FD wheels. so i will most likely just use them. giving it the stretched look while not going over board and risking a blow out...plus then i dont have to get new tires. just swap and go.

i have always put wider tires, or even width. im just looking to try something new.

225 on 9 is a pretty standard stretch

if you want a more extreme look go with the above

225 , only comes in 45 profile in 17s. Unless its Nittos

45 sidewall sucks for any type of clearance.

Old set up

RE070 225/45 on 9'

he has 16's. if you stretch your tires, your gonna have to drastically lower the car. if you dont, you'll have the stretched look but holy wheelgap batman!
