Question Which rims would look best on a 93 silver touring?

Which rims would look better on a silver 93 touring? I have some cash left over and I think I want to get some decent rims. Any ideas? And if you guys have a silver FD with rims, post some pics please!

BTW, here is one rim I thought looked nice, but do you think it would look good on the car?

18"x7.5" - $225 each

or these maybe? pretty much the same, only black:
18"x7.5"

or (sorry for all the pics!) this package:
(2) 17"x8" + (2) 17"x9". they actually come with a 5 lug pattern btw, and the package is $900 total:

Any ideas?

Everyone will tell you this but don't get 18x7.5's, the stock rim is 16x8" and putting 18x7.5's will not only hurt the performance of the car because you're going with skinnier rim but also the looks won't be that great because the wheels will be tucked way back in the wheel wells.

The last ones the 17x8" + 17x9"s are actually the best out of all three. But you could even go 17x10 in the back with the right offset if they have them. Check the offset on any wheels before you by them either yourself or just ask around to see if anyone is using that offset to make sure they'll fit. Also make sure you're bolt pattern on the new wheels you buy are 5x114.3

anything gunmetal with a polished lip would be good.... (black w/ lip would work too)

and I mostly agree about size... either go 17 on all four corners or 17f/18r 18s up front aren't the best choice from eiethr a cost or performance choice.

Fuji,

Dump the 7.5-wides...

There are many options.

What's your budget?

Recommend the SleepR1 fitment, 9 x 17, 45-mm offset all around with 255/40-17 tires. Excellent looks and performance. Just ask Cossie, ttb, and FritzFlynn

SSR Integral A2's look pretty tight.

I'm working on a black wheel setup, looks like either the Volk CE28N, or Fikse Mach V. Not a popular setup, but I think it will look mean when I'm done.

more pics of the SSR's when my car was closer to stock.

Damn NOCAB, I clicked on your link and checked out your pics. Your shiet was clean as F. Not that it isn't now or anything. Anyway, I don't know if you like to have a lip on your wheels, but if you do, (like me), then yeah, you should go for something new. I've been thinking about making a change too. Here are some choices: (SSR-Velbret, SSR-Gluck and SSR GT3)

Here is a site that has quite a few pics of BMW M3's with some nice wheels: http://www.m3supercar.com/mgallery.html
If you decide on some SSR's, I met the guy (over the phone) who is the sole US importer and he gave me some pretty good prices.

Eurosport?

Rishie? Please, please get me a quote on my SP1s?

Back to the subject at hand, a little outside of what you were looking to spend, but may give you ideas. Like was said above, something with a silver/polished lip and gunmetal/black centers look good on Silverstones.

Gewalt Evolutions, with custom painted gunmetal centers. Bought from here:

another pic

18X8.5 +44, 18X10 +44 - 225/40/18 (had to order as a temp measure, ideal size of 245/35 was back ordered at the time), and 285/30/18 Pirelli P Zero Assimetricals

Daniel, I LOVE that sideskirt. It's the only bodykit sideskirt that's soh subtle! I plan to do a repaint and would like info on your side skirt BTW, I think the Type RS/RZ/Spirit R front air dam would look cool with the side skirt. Now just gotta figure out what rear wing. Gotta be subtle...no Honda rice racer wings for me

Ok, back on topic. LUV the Gewalts. Got a friend here in Indy with a red FD outfitted with a set of Gewalts in 8.5 and 9.5 x 17, 40-mm offset fr/rr, 225/45-17 and 265/40-17 P-Zero Asimmetricos. His car's a real head-turner...considering 95% of the vehicles here in Indiana are pick-up trucks and SUVS

Kyle's car is FAST too. He had me reaching for the brake pedal 2 Saturday's ago when he took me for a joyride! Anyhow Kyle will be taking his car to my MDC Drivers Ed @ Putnam Park March 22, so we'll get his driving up to speed with his car
Anyway, I don't know if you like to have a lip on your wheels, but if you do, (like me), then yeah, you should go for something new.
You know that the deep-dish effect is a function of offset and backspace don't you? Porsche and BMW cars both have relatively low offset numbers. This pushes the tires more outboard relative to the wheel mounting surface, thus creating that deep dish rim lip look. It can be done on an FD in the rear wheel positions because of more generous clearances in back. Fronts will be tough to do, especially if you like to run wider tire widths like I do.
I've been thinking about making a change too. Here are some choices: (SSR-Velbret, SSR-Gluck and SSR GT3)

The SSRs are excellent choices for hot street wheels. Cutting edge styling while remaining lightweight and strong. Highly recommended

Gawd NO! 30-lbs wheels. Seriously! Weighed a 265/40-17 on 9.5 x 17 Blitz for a Nissan 300ZX. The scale read 60lbs! Fronts were 235/45-17 on 8.5 x 17. Scale read 55 lbs!

Do 9 front and 10 rear x 17s. Minimally you want 8.5 front and 9.5 rear x 17s.

Hehehehe I had no idea the Blitz's were that heavy. After seeing that pic, I was going to get them. But then I saw them in person, and I didn't like how the spokes curve inward at the very outer edge; it makes the 17's look like 16's. So I stopped there and never researched them any further. From what you are saying, ****, that is pretty heavy.

As for the offset and backspacing being a factor in wheel lip, yes, that is true... but only partially. Offset adjusts how far in or out the whole wheel will be in relation to the fender.

But what most people (around here) fail to realize, more importantly, is that you also have low, med and high pads (or disks). This is what shifts the face in or out within the wheel. To clarify, say you have 2 wheels, both 10" wide, both 45+ offset, and they both have their very edge exactly even with the fender. But if one wheel is a low pad and the other is a high pad, the low pad wheel would have 25mm (or 1 inch) more lip showing.

From what I was told by the SSR distributor, on their wheels, from low to med pad is a 12mm diff and from med to high is a 13mm diff. So the diff between low and high is 25mm.

The only drawback with going low disk is that it sometimes does not leave enough clearance for the brake calipers.

Anyhow, I really like the SSR GT3's. The "open" looking design makes the lip look big and the overall wheel look deep/wide. But being a 5 spoke star wheel, it looks similar to hundreds of other wheels out there. I want my wheels to look rare, racy, light (light as in looks and actual weight) and at the same time look classy in case I wind up valet parking at some nice restaraunt or hotel. I don't want this teen-agers rice car. Deciding on wheels is F'in hard!!!!

This is an important issue for those of us with large brake kits!

Hey guys, I made a website that you can all check out. I photoshop'd 7 different wheels on my car. The link is provided below. If any of you have FLAT pics you want to send me, I can add those wheels too. I can NOT use wheel pics that are at an angle. Send pics to tomsrx7@aol.com

here ya go:

Hey Sleep,

Those are Apexi sideskirts, and probably the best quality FG parts I've ever come across. OEM fit and finish, zilch flaws or gaps/etc. Perfect. Pricey at $600 retail though, but any buyer's remourse I had were quickly thrown out the window when they came in. Well worth the money. Never weighed them, but no more then a few pounds each side, to boot.

PM me your e-mail addy, and if you can handle large attchments, I'll send you high res pics. I'll see about digging up past posts on sideskirts, and post pics there to.

I'm partial to the 99+ wing myself hehe.
