Rim Offset
i don't know if i'm using the correct terms or what not for what i have a question about but...yea.. correct me if i'm wrong!
ok, so i want a set of rims. The deep dish looking ones...but what i don't understand is... what does it mean by the offset? is it the deeper the rim goes in, the more negative the offset? or is it opposite? like for example... -35 would mean deep dish look, and +35 would be almost standard or something? i don't know...i'm confused!
Most likely going to be going for the Volk GTU's soooooo any info would be great!!!
thanks!

strike up the paean
all offset means is
distance from wheel centerline to the mounting surface
the 'higher' the offset, the more the wheel sits towards in the inside of the car
the 'lower' the offset, the mre the wheel sits towards the outside of the car
lower offset wheels tend to have more lip, and deep dish wheels tend to be lower offset.
these are just trends. offset doesn't necesarily define any sort of lip/deep dish look.
but you should be basing your selection on
wheel style - i.e. want a lip, pick a wheel that has one
and then
wheel sizing - pick a width / offset that makes the wheel as flush/sunk as you like it

azn hit the nail on the head. If you want a wheel with lip, considering the HIGH offset of the FD, you will need to order a wheel that has a curved spoke. This curvature will add to the lip depth. A Flat face wheel like a TE37 or VS-XX will not yield you the lip of say something like a GT-C or a Termist TM1.
Tell me your budget for wheels and the diameter of the wheel you want to run. Possible styles you like and your functions for the vehicle. I can then make some good suggestions for you.

Well we can get you a deal on Volks, but an even better deal on Work wheels as a direct importer from Japan. 3K is a huge budget on just wheels so we have tons of options at the discount you qualify for as a club member.
Oh, What color were you hoping for? Is silver fine?
Please take a gander at these work wheels to see if one appeals to you:

Here's some mesh:

Which ones you like the most?
Volk is on our site as well, but the GTu doesn't have much lip for your app.
Thanks, Rishie
