ride height uneven

my front left is about ~8mm lower...

i just installed gab super r and rsr race springs, but had this problem on stock suspension as well. thought it was my blown passengerside shock that was causing it..

but after the install nothing changed. still 8mm on the lh side and fender rub when cornering..

can i use a upper mount or lower perch spacer?

thanks

btw im talking about a fd

i did some more searching and i guess im the 1000000th person to ask the same question. what i didn't find was a definite answer as to if this can be corrected by using spacers w/o ill effects on the car.

I don't know what the answer is, but this is one of those things that most people discover when they start fiddling with the suspension on the FD. If it is a major concern, check the corner weights. If they are right, it's right, and you don't want to "fix" the unevenness. How about if someone that HAS had their car corner-balanced measures their ground-to-wheel-arch distances and tells us what they are. I'd like to get to the bottom of this, too. I have coil-overs and have adjusted the heights many times to be about even at all four corners -- maybe I shouldn't have.

Max...I had mine corner balanced. I couldn't find the sheet with the exact numbers. Basically, with the 25in ride height from ground to wheel arch all around left the car close to 50/50. The guy said that the difference would be made up if I sat in the seat...which made the balance right on. I think he was being lazy and not wanting to adjust the coilovers...but at least it was "close".

I had the exact same thing when i installed my D2 coilovers. Front left side was about 1/4" lower than the rest. I had the car corner balanced and it spec'd out fine. I then did some more research and asked some questions and found in the RX7 workshop manual where it says that ride height specs should be within 10mm. Since mine was only about 7mm off i figured it was probably ok. Before i got corner balanced i even tried to adjust the height and preload on the springs to compensate for it, but it didn't seem to make a difference. Makes me wonder if the left front was always lower than the rest of the car, but i had just never noticed it before. Perhaps it's just some inherent design characteristic of the car. But i wouldn't worry about it too much. As long as your corner balance is in the ballpark you're fine.

Cheers!

I always figured it was the battery and oil cooler and other things on that side. They sit in front of the left wheel and 80-100lbs for that stuff is about 1/4 inch on those RSR's.

I would NOT use a spacer. Seems like if would mess with the geometry.

what about spacers on all 4 corners or are there good shocks that can be adjusted higher?

The koni's have adjustable perches. Its not that I dont support ride height adjustments I'm just not sure about side to side. I retract my disapproval.
