Ride height

I have an 88 SE, just put new struts on front & rear. The problem is the body is riding about one inch higher than before. Is this normal? What can I do to lower it without spending a bunch of $$$? Thanks!

If everything is installed correctly then your old shocks and struts were probably very worn. You could try some lowering springs. JC Whitney sells the Suspension Techniques springs for $160. I have them on my car and they lowered it about an inch. They make the car handle better, but they give a much rougher ride. What type of sturs did you get?

The new struts are Monroe. It appeared the car still had the original struts on it. The new struts compounded the problem I already had by upgrading from 195/60x14 (phone dials) to 205/60x15 wheels and tires (from an 89 parts car I purchased)which caused an inch of rise also. I am looking to get it back to at least the starting height. I may also look at getting a lower profile set of tires when I can afford them. I will check out the spring kits, maybe that will do it for now. Thanks!

Yeah, the previous ride height was caused by the tires and worn out struts. I would use new springs to lower the car. Don't go with a lower profile tire.
