replacing wheel studs

i'm just wondering if replacing the wheel studs (all 4 wheels) on an FC is a simple procedure? if someone could give me an outline on what needs to be done, that would be great.

thanks.

It as simple as they say. The only thing I would do different is spray it with liquid wrench and let it sit for 30mn or so and pound on it with the sledge hammer then spray some more and let it sit another 30mn. (Mine were on pretty good) Then pound on it some more. Since you are doing so many I let those mf soak in real good.

i did mine in just the rears only..it was kind of a pain..i would suggest replacing your wheel bearings while youre at it..because the rear hubs will need to be pressed out.

you are saying it's not the same procedure as what was given in those links above? there was no mention of the hub having to be pressed out in those.

Ive replaced them on 2 friends cars and we never even imagined leaving the hub on the car.

for the fronts we removed the hub, thats easy.

for the rears we used a hydraulic press (at a shop) and removed the bearing on the hub, this also ruins a dust shield on the outside of the bearing (yeah that sucks), but with new bearings and new dust shield you are good to go.

leave hub on car.
pound out the old studs with a hammer.
slide the new ones in from the back. cover with anti-sieze.
use your wheel nuts and an impact wrench ... pull the suckers out.
youll see what i mean.

i replaced mine just recently. everyone said leave the front hubs on and pound them out but doesnt the abs ring get in the way for putting longer studs in? i dunno....i didnt even bother trying. i just took everything off and did it cause i didnt see it helping the bearings or anything pounding on it hard. and instead of risking damage to the hub with a hammer then, i just used a air punch (whatever u call it) with a hammer head on it, came out easy. then yea...get some spacers, a nut, and use the air wrench to pull those suckers back in.

i would imagine it would be a more complicated process if you had ABS on your car.
i think i will try out carefully hammering them out, leaving the hub on. hopefully there won't be complications (like there always is with these cars)...
