Rearend Whirling sound!
Hello, I have a 2nd gen 88 gxl.. I seem to have this whirling sound coming from the rearend.( Like a rubber Creaking)
Very loud when backing up on a turn and when driving speeding up its loud.. when i am off the gas i can hear it but isnt very loud... I traced it to what i think is the passenger rear tire spindle area. i took the tire off because the tire wiggled a lot .. i made sure the bolt that holds the spindle in and holds the short drive shaft in was tight. It was a bit loose so put a half turn into it and seems to have made the tire tighter.
I replaced this bearing Twice. I took the whole thing out and had a new bearing pressed in twice. But the last two times i had this Loud Humming sound like the freeway bumps they have if you run off the freeway sounds like...
But if this is the bearing do they make other sounds when going out also?
How many diffrent sounds can a rear wheel bearing make? And who can put them in Right and press them in right so i wont have to keep replacing them?
is there a wrong way to press a bearing in that causes them to go out within a year?
Or is the suspention putting pressure on the bearing?
The short Drive shafts that come from the rear end Can they make the same sound?
