I have a 86 and I have a 88 parts car

the 86 is a four lug and the 88 is a lsd five lug

can I put the five lug under the 86, and bolt it on with out modification

or what is the procedure to swap

or can you not swap at all

 

just swap everything over that looks different. it all bolts up

 

Can you use a 4 lug center housing (referring to the rear end) and take the guts, if you will, out of a lsd five lug and put the guts into the four lug center housing and put the five lug spindles in also?

or can they not interchange

Or is the five lug lsd a heavier duty center houseing?

you can take your Open end Diff right out and change it for the N/A LSD.
it will hook up to a 4 or five lug rear spindle assembly
BUT you can't use a TII LSD with N/A half shafts.,they wil not fit on the Differential flanges.
Look into TII Diff swap..or Open diff to LSD swap with the "search Function".that should give you more info.Good Luck.

 

You "could", but not sure why you would? Swapping rear ends on an FC is cake. If I were you Id just swap entire rear subframe in one piece. You can literally do this in under 2 hours and thats taking your time.

 

Well just curious really but I was planning on dropping the whole rear end out anyways.

I believe you can do it under two hours

We drop the whole front support with the engine in tranny so I think we can handle the rear end
